City of South Lake Tahoe asks lodging industry to not rent to visitors during "Stay at Home" order

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Interim Police Chief Shannon Laney sent out a letter to vacation homeowners and lodging properties on Monday, telling them to cease renting to non-exempt short-term visitors. California Governor Newsom issued a state-wide Stay at Home Order on March 19, 2020, which bans all non-essential travel, including staying in accommodations in Lake Tahoe.

Vendors are now being accepting for the annual Home and Garden Show held in South Lake Tahoe will be held April 22-23, 2016 at the Recreation Complex. For those that sign up before January 29, a large early bird discount is available.

Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show

The fifth annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show will be held Friday, April 22, 2016, from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The show will return to the Recreation Complex at 1080 Rufus Allen Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe. Admission is free, and all attendees will receive a free ticket for a door prize drawing. The popular show attracts over a thousand attendees during the two days, and offers free give-a-ways, food, activities for the family, and vendors

At Risk Missing Person in South Lake Tahoe

11 am update - Mr. Duran has been located and returned home.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is seeking the public's help in locating 24 year old Timothy Duran. He was last seen on April 22 and last heard from on April 23. Duran has no history of being a danger to anyone, but is prescribed medications for mental health purposes and can become very confused without them.

World Book Night Shares the Love of Reading in South Lake Tahoe

The South Lake Tahoe community was treated to 320 free books on Wednesday night as part of World Book Night.

Volunteers from Friends of the Library gave books out at beaches, bus stops, the El Dorado County Food Bank truck, recreation center, Senior Center, Juvenile Treatment Center, Tahoe Senior Plaza and various other places around town. They announced on Facebook that they were heading out, but didn't disclose locations until after the books were distributed.

"We enjoyed reaching out to others in our community by sharing a special book," said volunteer Lynne Brosch.

Mobile Food Pantry to Distribute Food in South Lake Tahoe on April 23rd

The El Dorado County Food Bank will be in South Lake Tahoe to distribute emergency supplemental groceries to those who need it most on Wednesday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The mobile pantry will be in the parking lot of the American Legion Hall at 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd to help struggling families make ends meet. There will be one allocation per household.

Brotherhood motorcycle member arrested for felony weapons, assault crimes, drug paraphernalia

On Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 the SLTPD SWAT team executed high risk search and arrest warrants at 2493 William Avenue, and took 46-year-old Anthony Corbin into custody for several felonies.

Anthony Corbin is a confirmed member of the South Lake Tahoe Brotherhood Motorcycle Club. In mid-March Corbin was identified as the suspect who severely beat a 34-year-old South Lake Tahoe man.
