Art has a way of making the creator immortal. Such is the case with Ed Laine.
The longtime South Lake Tahoe resident died Nov. 8, 2018, at home. He was 87.
Beyond a large family and rich trove of friends, Ed leaves behind a legacy as an artist. He was a quiet man who for years let his voice be heard through his work.
Born in Palo Alto on Oct. 17, 1931, to Selma Alquist and John Laine, Ed grew up in the Bay Area, having graduated from Sequoia Union High School in 1950. He attended San Jose State College, Cal Arts and the University of Oregon. In Oregon he majored in art.

September 16, 2018 (All day) The 2018 Silver State Art Festival, hosted by the Nevada Gourd Society, is a gathering in Carson City of gourd artists, basket makers, wood artists, photographers and painters from all over the Southwest.
The festival is Sept. 15-16, 2018 at Fuji Exhibit Hall, across from Costco. All are welcome to come and meet the artists and enjoy wonderful art.

Families, art and music lovers, and history buffs can expect a spectacular season of entertainment on the shore of Lake Tahoe at this year’s Valhalla Arts, Music & Theatre Festival, June 17 – August 26, 2015. Free music on the lawn, boot stomping roots music in a 1920’s boathouse, classic theatre productions, outdoor art camps for kids, cultural dance performances and fine art shows are some of the many highlights that await 2015 festival goers. Tahoe Arts Project Holiday Art Festival at St. Theresa's Grace Hall

The Tahoe Arts Project Holiday Art Faire is Dec. 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Theresa's Grace Hall, 1041 Lyons Avenue, South Lake Tahoe.
Children 12 and under are free. General admission is $10. The faire includes many arts and crafts vendors, cookie decorating, music by Sister Analog, Marcia Sarosik Dancers and Santa. Admission includes food, wine and hot chocolate. All proceeds benefit TAP.
