Editorial: Vote "YES" on Measure L
Submitted by paula on Mon, 06/02/2014 - 7:18amMeasure L is the Library Special Tax on the ballot this year. Twenty years ago the South Lake Tahoe voters passed a library tax where those who owned parcels in the area would be charged $20/parcel per year for the next 20 years to fund the library.
Well, that time period is up so the tax is on the ballot once again. This is not a new tax, just a request for taxpayers to continue paying the same.
Letter to the Editor: Vote Yes on Measure L

The South Lake Tahoe Library does more than just books and banks of computers, our library is a place where people gather to explore, interact, and imagine. It is a place where people come to know themselves and their communities. People go to the Library looking for information and find each other there.

Throughout his lifetime, Ted Geisel created paintings and collected hats which he secreted away in a hidden closet at the Dr. Seuss Estate. New earthquake technology reveals Lake Tahoe faults could generate large events
Submitted by Editor on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 1:08pmCARNELIAN BAY — Results of a new U.S. Geological Survey study found that faults west of Lake Tahoe, Calif., referred to as the Tahoe-Sierra frontal fault zone, pose a substantial increase in the seismic hazard assessment for the Lake Tahoe region of California and Nevada, and could potentially generate earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 6.3 to 6.9. A close association of landslide deposits and active faults also suggests that there is an earthquake-induced landslide hazard along the steep fault-formed range front west of Lake Tahoe.
