South Lake Tahoe group collecting items for migrant children in Tijuana

A group of locals from South Lake Tahoe are leaving town next weekend with backpacks filled with stuffed animals, toys, books, art supplies and more that will go to migrant children living with their families in shelters in Tijuana.
John Friedrich, his wife Kim and daughter Rosie will be going to Mexico joined by another local, Joanna Lilly, with the collected items. They've had help from the Bijou Community School PTA and South Tahoe Middle School (STMS) Spanish Teacher Krissi Russell.
Tahoe Women's Community Fund announces awardees of $84,000 in grants

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund has announced their 2019 grant recipients. This year, there were over 27 organizations who applied for the grants, with $84,000 being distributed to 14 non-profit organizations
Focus Grant recipients in the category of Poverty, Housing, or Basic Needs (up to $10,000 each):
• Tahoe Youth & Family Services (Project: Tahoe Youth Transitional Living Program:
Basic Household Essentials)
• Tahoe Magic, Inc. (Project: One Time Family Emergency Housing Help Fund)

Thank you Bijou Safeway for your continuous support of Bijou Community School. These past two weeks, Bijou PTA and the 2nd grade teachers have been selling otter pops at school to raise funds for the 2nd grade field trip to Carson City Children's Museum. Our efforts were enhanced by Bijou Safeway who donated 800 otter pops for the fundraising efforts.
Bijou Community School playground ribbon cutting ceremony

August 22, 2014 - 2:00pm Bijou Community School PTA is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground that was built thanks to the generous donations of a multitude of community members, businesses, and foundations. This project has been the epitome of a community effort with over 40 donors helping the school's PTA raise over $100,000.

Bijou Community School PTA Hosts Dinner and Show

Bijou Community School PTA presents a night out with a Dinner and a Show on
Thursday, March 13th at the school's multi-purpose room.
Dinner will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. A spaghetti dinner platter with spaghetti, garlic bread & Caesar salad will be served for $5. Following the feast will be a Talent Show from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. . The Bijou Community students will be performing songs, dances ,magic shows and more. Admission is FREE.
