Tahoe Bike Challenge riders log over 45,000 miles
Submitted by paula on Thu, 07/23/2020 - 10:17amLAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - Over 300 locals and visitors took part in the 15th annual Tahoe Bike Challenge, biking 45,442 miles during the month-long event. The Tahoe-basin wide challenge was a friendly competition that annually encourages individuals and teams to track trips and miles completed on their bikes.
“Congratulations to all of the winners and riders,” TRPA Transportation Planner Kira Smith said. “Although this year looked a little bit different, we hope the Challenge inspires people to bike and walk through the rest of the year.”
Tahoe Bike Challenge expands to full month starting June 1

Hosted by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition, the Bike Challenge is a basin-wide celebration of biking and a friendly competition to see who can record the most rides.
Bike Path Cleanup

Celebrate the Tahoe Bike Challenge with this fun, physically distanced community cleanup event to prepare our bike paths for the summer. We will ride our bikes and walk on the paths as we clean. Volunteers that ride their bike or walk to the cleanup will receive a Tahoe Bike Challenge prize!

20,000 miles pedaled during Lake Tahoe Bike Challenge
Submitted by paula on Thu, 06/27/2019 - 4:27pmDuring the first two weeks of June, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition teamed up to lead the 14th annual Tahoe Bike Challenge. 285 people took the challenge and biked 20,420 miles at Lake Tahoe.
The basin-wide challenge is a friendly competition that encourages individuals and teams to track trips and miles on their bikes. Starting June 1 and running through June 14, Tahoe Basin bikers prevented an estimated 6,945 pounds of carbon dioxide from escaping into the atmosphere.
250 cigarette butt collection canisters to be installed around Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Sun, 06/23/2019 - 7:08pmCigarette butts are the most commonly gathered items at beach and other clean-ups around Lake Tahoe. At the League to Save Tahoe's most recent cleanups this month (the Tahoe City Cleanup and the South Lake Tahoe Bike Path Cleanup) over 4,500 cigarette butts were collected. Last year more than 27,600 cigarette butts were collected in and around Lake Tahoe by the League alone.
14th annual Tahoe Bike Challenge June 1-14

The two-week basin-wide event is a team-based challenge to encourage everyone to ride and experience the benefits and joys of cycling.
The event is co-sponsored by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) and Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition/

Community bike path cleanup scheduled for June 11

June 11, 2016 (All day) Join us as we celebrate the Tahoe Bike Challenge with a community bike path cleanup event!
Volunteers can meet at one of four locations throughout South Tahoe to pick up litter from the areas around our bike paths. Then we’ll get together at the League to Save Lake Tahoe office located at 2608 Lake Tahoe Boulevard for a free lunch, raffle and celebration after 12:00 p.m. All ages are welcome and all supplies will be provided.
We encourage volunteers to ride their bike, which also makes you eligible to enter a free raffle for a chance to win a prize.
