Submitted by paula on Tue, 01/12/2021 - 9:00pmTeresa Diane Golden, known as Teri, passed away peacefully in her home on December 29, 2020. She was 76. Teri loved living in South Lake Tahoe. She was active in the Democratic Party, Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless, Christmas Cheer, the Drugstore Project, helping hikers on the Pacific Rim Trail, the AARP tax preparation, and many other endeavors. Teri was also a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and The Women of the Moose. Her neighbors described her as a loving and generous person.

is treating children and adults, delivering a full array of surgical and non-surgical ENT medical services; including allergy therapy, treatments for ear and throat infections, sinus and nasal issues, head and neck illnesses, snoring, voice, and hearing problems.
Eric Michael Berg ~ 3/13/1988 - 11/29/2020

The severity and duration of his addiction to alcohol was almost entirely hidden from his friends and family. He passed just hours before family intended to bring him to a medical detoxification facility.

Lake Tahoe Historical Society provides map to Halloween decorations at South Lake Tahoe homes
Submitted by paula on Tue, 10/20/2020 - 9:33amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - With a change in the normal Halloween celebrations due to coronavirus, volunteers with the Lake Tahoe Historical Society have created a map to local homes decorated for the season. This is a great way to enjoy the holiday in a socially distanced manner.
LTHS has added the map to their website and will have printed copies at the museum starting October 20.
There are no specific address listed, just a pumpkin placed in the area of a home found to have a display for all to enjoy by walking, biking or driving by.

Tahoe Fund grant helps TAMBA get started on Tyrolian Trail construction

The project is designed to enhance the user experience, make critical trail connections, rehabilitate and restore old logging roads to reduce erosion and improve lake clarity. It is expected to be completed by the end of October 2020.

Tahoe Bike Challenge riders log over 45,000 miles

The Tahoe-basin wide challenge was a friendly competition that annually encourages individuals and teams to track trips and miles completed on their bikes.
“Congratulations to all of the winners and riders,” TRPA Transportation Planner Kira Smith said. “Although this year looked a little bit different, we hope the Challenge inspires people to bike and walk through the rest of the year.”

Jeff Marsolais leaves LTBMU and becomes new supervisor for Eldorado Forest

Jeff Marsolais came to Lake Tahoe in 2010, working several positions and for the past five years, had filled the top spot.
The Eldorado National Forest is welcoming back Jeff Marsolais, who will begin serving as the Eldorado’s new forest supervisor on June 22. Jeff worked on the Eldorado National Forest early in his career and is excited to return.
Tahoe Bike Challenge expands to full month starting June 1

El Dorado County issues "Shelter in Place" for South Lake Tahoe and rest of county
Submitted by paula on Thu, 03/19/2020 - 5:37pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County Health Officer Dr. Nancy Williams has issued a "Shelter in Place" for all county residents effective on Friday, March 20 starting at 11:59 p.m.
Residents are being directed to remain at home except to engage in essential activities in order to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Earlier today, Placer County did the same thing which affects North Lake Tahoe.
There are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in El Dorado County and this action is meant to help keep the spread minimal when cases are confirmed.

Earlier this year, the planned 2.1-mile multi-use trail designed to provide new access to Fallen Leaf Lake and Desolation Wilderness faced a $75,000 funding gap.

Between Echo Summit and the Meyers roundabout, the horrible accident at Elks Club, US50 through town and then the construction at Stateline that caused delays back to Zephyr Cove in mid-September. Luckily, the Stateline issue was quickly remedied, the highway at Elks Club seems mostly repaired, and the Meyers roundabout turned out great.
New fire chief hired for the City of South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Wed, 10/23/2019 - 2:01pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Ken Harrison has been hired to take the helm of South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue. The former battalion chief with the Orange County Fire Authority is bringing years of experience to the lake.
The City hasn't had anyone in the permanent fire chief position since the departure of Jeff Meston retired in February of this year. Battalion Chief Jim Drennan and retired Chief Bruce Martin have shared the duties over the past eight months.

Jones has been with Vail since 1998 and has held several positions in Human Resources since that time, most recently as Vice President of Human Resources where he oversaw the Colorado Resorts and employee housing initiatives. He’s also been a member of various boards including the Epic Promise Foundation and Vail Resorts’ Emergency Grants Committee.

Tahoe Bike Love rides launch in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Bike Tahoe, a nonprofit promoting bicycling in the region, has teamed up with Lake Tahoe AleWorX and BlueZone Sports of South Lake Tahoe to launch its first Tahoe Bike Love event – a weekly mountain bike ride for the public.
“We decided to team up and produce this ride series to meet the increasing requests by locals and visitors for a regularly scheduled ride they can count on,” said Bike Tahoe President Ty Polastri.
Bike Love outings are scheduled for Thursday evenings beginning August 1 at 5:30 p.m.
Cycling icon Levi Leipheimer partners with “My Tahoe” license plate campaign

Leipheimer, a two-time U.S. national champion, Olympic medalist, and three-time Tour of California winner, has continued to use his role in cycling to advance good causes, including through his King Ridge Foundation, which supports programs serving at-risk youth across the country.
The three-mile long Tahoe East Shore Trail opens to bikes and pedestrians

The Nevada Department of Transportation and Tahoe Transportation District, along with their partners in the project, celebrated during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday afternoon the three-mile path between southern Incline Village and Sand Harbor State Park.
20,000 miles pedaled during Lake Tahoe Bike Challenge
Submitted by paula on Thu, 06/27/2019 - 3:27pmDuring the first two weeks of June, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition teamed up to lead the 14th annual Tahoe Bike Challenge. 285 people took the challenge and biked 20,420 miles at Lake Tahoe.
The basin-wide challenge is a friendly competition that encourages individuals and teams to track trips and miles on their bikes. Starting June 1 and running through June 14, Tahoe Basin bikers prevented an estimated 6,945 pounds of carbon dioxide from escaping into the atmosphere.
Volunteers needed to assist the public in the Lake Tahoe backcountry

A formation meeting for is being held for all potential volunteers on Friday, June 28 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at LTBMU Supervisor Office located at 35 College Drive in South Lake Tahoe.
Stateline redevelopment area remains intact after Douglas County Commissioners' decision

There was an overflow crowd at the commissioner's June 20 meeting at Lake Tahoe. Many of those who could not fit in the meeting room were accommodated with audio feed in the judges' chambers and the bottom floor of the parking garage.
Live at Lakeview returns for 8th season in South Lake Tahoe

10th annual Nevada Moves Day on March 20

The 10th annual event will feature school-wide events in Carson City, Clark, Washoe, Lyon and many other counties. Children not taking part in an organized school event are encouraged to involve their families in safely walking or bicycling to school on this special day and throughout the year.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The premiere of the multi award-winning film, Life Cycles, will be held at a Tahoe Area Mountain Biking Association (TAMBA) fundraiser at South Lake Brewing Company on March 22.
Local Freshies® is hosting the event with the brewery located at 1920 Lake Tahoe Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:00 p.m. All ages are invited and the cost is $5 each.
