JoAnn Conner says "I won't go quietly into the night"
Submitted by paula on Mon, 12/12/2016 - 6:40pmOutgoing South Lake Tahoe City Councilwoman JoAnn Conner was honored for her four years of service to the community during a special Council meeting Monday. She was awarded a plaque, but didn't leave her former position without a few words to say.
Conner's term was not a quiet one. As she said she "fought for the little people," Conner also filed a lawsuit against the City and was censured by her colleagues.
As she spoke to the small group gathered in Chambers to bid farewell, Conner said she would continue to fight for the those that can't fight themselves.
SLT flags at half-staff after death of former Councilman Bill Crawford
Submitted by paula on Mon, 11/28/2016 - 6:04pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF.: Former City of South Lake Tahoe Councilmember Bill Crawford passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at the age of 82 after a brief illness. In honor of his service to the community, all City flags will be lowered to half-staff through Friday, December 2.
Comments at City Council meetings to remain televised
Submitted by paula on Wed, 04/20/2016 - 8:24pmTo televise or not televise, that was the question in front of the South Lake Tahoe City Council on Tuesday, April 19. While live streaming of the Council meetings is not required by law, it is something the City has done on both the internet and television since May, 2007.
The agenda item was added after discussion arose during the April 5 meeting when Mayor Wendy David asked that they stop televising the public comment portion of the meetings. Her comment caught many by surprise, even by some of her Council members.
South Lake Tahoe group wants local voters to determine Loop Road future

A "notice of intent to circulate petition" was submitted to the SLT City Clerk Susan Alessi on February 23, 2016.
