SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) and its new Mobility Hub won the Tallac Achievement Award during the 13th annual Blue Ribbon Awards Thursday evening.

The award is given to an exemplary infrastructure project that revitalizes and enhances the economy and community of Tahoe’s South Shore.

The Tahoe Chamber collected 190 nominations from the community for the 13th annual Blue Ribbon Award to celebrate the businesses, non-profits and individuals that make the South Shore of Lake Tahoe so unique. Local businesses have been a resilient backbone of the community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and honoring their contributions, achievements and milestones is more important than ever before.

The winners of the 12th annual Blue Ribbon Awards were announced Thursday, November 14, at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. Over 300 community members attended to celebrate the winners of seven awards that honor outstanding South Shore businesses, organizations and individuals for civic contributions, tourism experiences, customer service and entrepreneurial achievements.

Close to 70 nominees will be celebrated at the 12th annual Blue Ribbon Awards on Thursday, Nov. 14 at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Hotel and Casino. Join the Tahoe Chamber in celebrating the businesses and individuals that make the South Shore a great community to live, work and play. Admission to this event is $65 for Tahoe Chamber members and $85 for non-members. Tickets include champagne, wine and full 3-course dinner prepared by Harrah’s executive culinary team. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - At the recent Tahoe Chamber Blue Ribbon Awards there was a slide in the presentation about the South Shore being a location in the filming of the sequel to Tom Cruise's epic Top Gun movie.

But since that day nobody can be found that can officially confirm this.

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce, also known as the Tahoe Chamber, is holding the annual Blue Ribbon Awards on November 8 at the MontBleu Resort from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The public is invited to participate in the nomination process and can submit their candidates for the awards until October 5.

Since 2007, the Tahoe Chamber's Blue Ribbon Awards have honored excellence in business on the South Shore. The awards program recognizes businesses, organizations, and individuals for achievements, community contributions, and milestones. It is one of the largest business awards program on the South Shore bringing together over 300 local business leaders, entrepreneurs, organizations, community members and government officials.

Who or what is Tahoe South? When the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority first started marketing the name, many locals perceived it as an attempt to rename the community, but instead, it is the branding of a concept as well as a location.

The Blue Ribbon Award nominations have been tallied, with more than 150 nominations received. Thank you to the businesses and individuals who took the time to nominate those making significant contributions to the South Shore community. The 5th Annual Blue Ribbon Awards Dinner & Ceremony will be held on November 15 at Embassy Suites; all nominees will be recognized and the winners will be announced during the ceremony.
