SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The commitment of Bread & Broth over the last thirty years has solely focused on the mission to ease hunger in the South Lake Tahoe community. That mission took on new meaning beginning in mid-March with the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak when record numbers of individuals seeking food assistance from the various programs and services provided by B & B.

The ultimate mission of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) is to help youth thrive. Sadly, it is our students - not we, adult, decision-makers - who will most suffer climate change. LTUSD must also support the future health and well-being of our students.

So, in 2017, the School Board formally resolved to:

Increase reliance on clean, renewable energy sources to power the District’s facilities, in line with and in collaboration with, the City of South Lake Tahoe’s recent pledge to power 100 percent of our electricity use with renewable energy by 2030.

Friday, January 18, 2019 - Lake Tahoe Unified School District, Truckee Tahoe Unified School District and Washoe County schools at Incline Village are open today.

Douglas County Schools are open with the following instructions for busses at the lake:

School busses will stop at main bus stops only for Lake school Zephyr Cove Elementary (ZCES). These stops are designated as:

The corner of Tina Court and Ski Court for students living in the Tramway and Kingsbury Village area:

ZCES - Bus will arrive at 7:57 a.m. and depart at 8:20 a.m.

Toyota Tacomas are almost an institution, perhaps the best-selling mid-size pickup ever. In 2017 Tacoma sales were about 200,000 and owned over 50 percent of the market and for 2018 total Tacoma sales are 20 percent higher, looking at a 250,000 in sales for 2018 and still holding over a 50 percent market share. That is remarkable. Tacoma is a true default brand as its stellar reputation of quality and reliability is at the top of the mind of just about every mid-size truck buyer.

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has given Tahoe Transportation District (TTD) $1.6M to help continue bus service from Carson City to the Carson Valley and on to Lake Tahoe, but more is still needed to help TTD continue service both at the lake and in the valley.

Throngs of people were seen throughout South Lake Tahoe Monday afternoon and evening as they made their way to Lake Tahoe Community College and the 2014 SnowGlobe. By 8 p.m., 12,000 people were already at the concert. Many walked, parked nearby or took advantage of the shuttle busses provided by the event planners and the City.

"They have done a good job on signs, parking shuttles, sound and security," said South Lake Tahoe City Manager Nancy Kerry of the event planners. "Sound levels have been on target and below."
