The Elves did it again!! They visited the South Lake Tahoe Children's Memorial Tree in the park at Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Wildwood Avenue for the tenth straight year, leaving behind signs of Christmas with stockings and decorations.
There is a stocking at the tree for the over 240 children who are memorialized there.
The memorial was created 29 years ago when tragedy struct the local community when South Tahoe High students Rory Hrbacek, Sandy Haynes, and Casey Wells died in an vehicle accident on Pioneer Trail.

Santa's Elves were at it again this year in South Lake Tahoe! They visited the South Lake Tahoe Children's Memorial tree for the fifth straight year, leaving behind signs of Christmas with stockings and garland.

Some elves visited the South Lake Tahoe Children's Memorial tree for the third straight year, leaving behind signs of Christmas with stockings and garland.

Christmas decor at South Lake Tahoe's Children's Memorial Tree

The children of South Lake Tahoe who have lost their lives are memorialized in a tree located at the corner of Highway 50 and Wildwood Avenue.
A tragedy occurred on February 2, 1991 when three South Tahoe High students died when the car they were riding in struck a tree on Pioneer Trail. They tree they struck became the Children's Memorial Tree.
A newly designed memorial was unveiled a year ago and it now holds over 230 names.

There are a few buzz words that are evidently going to be used during the El Dorado County District 5 Supervisor race this summer and fall.
Economic Vitality - An economy with sufficient jobs, products and services to support the community. A sufficient tax base provides citizens with police and fire, parks and recreation and public services needed by the population.

August 9, 2013 - 6:00pm A little over 22 years ago the small community of South Lake Tahoe was rocked with a tragedy that touched the hearts of most residents.
With a sense of disbelief, schools announced that Rory Hrbacek, Sandy Haynes, and Casey Wells had died in an accident on Pioneer Trail that also affected two other home-town boys, the driver and his front seat passenger.
It was difficult to find a person in our town who did not know either the boys or their parents. It was the greatest single instance of grief this town could remember.
