Barton Health offers acupuncture treatments at Center for Orthopedics & Wellness

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Barton Health has expanded acupuncture services at its Center for Orthopedics & Wellness to now offer community acupuncture treatments. Community acupuncture provides similar health and wellness benefits of private acupuncture but differs from the private clinical room setting – taking place in a group environment with lower costs per treatment.
South Tahoe High grad returns as Barton's new spine specialist

A South Tahoe High graduate has come back to the South Shore community to become the new spine specialist at the Tahoe Center for Orthopedics and Tahoe Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
Zachary Child, MD, a 1991 graduate of STHS, is a board certified orthopedic spine surgeon and musculoskeletal oncologist. He is skilled in addressing back pain and finding surgical and non-surgical options that help patients reach optimal spine health.

Death by drug overdose has tripled from 1990 to 2008. In 2008, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 36,450 people died from a drug overdose and 75% of overdoses were prescription drug related. Of the prescription drug-related deaths in 2008, the CDC reports 74% were opiate prescription drugs.
