It's a Snow Day for many area schools
Submitted by paula on Tue, 02/26/2019 - 7:09amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - During the winter that keeps on giving. local students have already had more than an average number of days off of school due to snow.
For Lake Tahoe Unified on the South Shore, students will not be going to school Tuesday, their sixth so far this year. The closed schools due to the "blizzard and Extremely low visibility."
Tahoe Truckee Unified School District on the North Shore is also closed Tuesday.
Incline Village schools will hold a Digital School Day.
Douglas County Schools at the Lake (Zephyr Cove Elementary and Whittell High) are closed.
Snow Day for Lake Tahoe area schools on Monday
Submitted by paula on Sun, 02/03/2019 - 9:05pmIn anticipation of poor driving conditions and a blizzard warning in South Lake Tahoe, the Lake Tahoe Unified School District has closed schools for Monday, February 4, 2019.
Washoe County schools in Lake Tahoe at Incline Village are taking a digital day.
Douglas County schools at the lake have a snow day (ZCES and GWHS).
All Tahoe Truckee schools and offices are closed today.
Lake Tahoe Community College is closed.
Camino Union School District - Closed
Gold Oak Union School District - Closed
Indian Diggings School District - Closed
South Lake Tahoe digs out after blizzard drops feet of snow
Submitted by paula on Thu, 01/12/2017 - 2:54pmPeople around Lake Tahoe are digging out from a blizzard that left roads closed, schools closed, businesses closed and even ski resorts closed.
As residents move over four feet of snow from their driveways, ski resorts are moving over 12 feet of snow from around their lifts so they can operate during the busy holiday ski weekend ahead.

Snow making a comeback in Lake Tahoe

With less than stellar snowpacks over the last several winters, many might have forgotten what snowstorms really could look like in South Lake Tahoe. This week, however, memories are being refreshed with a blizzard impacting the Sierra Nevada that could bring up to seven feet of snow to the lake.

Due to the anticipated serious winter weather conditions as forecast by the National Weather Service, they wanted to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
