Submitted by paula on Mon, 01/22/2018 - 1:07pmAs what is normal every winter, head lice have made an appearance in South Lake Tahoe schools, but there is no epidemic or increased numbers of cases seen locally.

Small fire breaks out in attic furnace room at TJ Maxx in South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Mon, 01/02/2017 - 8:57pmA fire broke out in a furnace room at the South Lake Tahoe TJ Maxx store just before 7:00 p.m. Monday night, resulting in the store filling up with smoke and water.
South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue personnel responded, and found the store's sprinkler system was able to keep the fire from spreading and it was contained to the one room.
The furnace was located above the store's dressing rooms. With all of the water used to put out the fire, the ceiling collapsed and created quite a mess in that portion of the store.

Submitted by paula on Mon, 01/02/2017 - 11:31amWith roads clear on Sunday it still took drivers almost three hours to make it the 99 miles Stateline to Sacramento, and it appears today will be worse due to heavy snow and chain controls.
The California Highway Patrol is currently working on a collision by Ice House Road and Highway 50 and they closed the road at 11:16 a.m. to clear the vehicles.
They are also working on accidents near Bridal Veil Falls and the old St. Paulie's Inn. Bridal Veil Falls area was also the scene of many Sunday evening accidents.
