Free writing workshop for veterans in South Lake Tahoe

The El Dorado Arts Council is expanding their Veterans’ Voices Writing Workshop to South Lake Tahoe beginning Oct. 1. The free, drop-in workshop is open to all veterans and all skill levels are encouraged. The workshops will be held on Mondays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community College, Room A206, near the LTCC Veterans Resource Center.

El Dorado County names Poet Laureate

El Dorado Arts Council has inaugurated a Poet Laureate program for El Dorado County. This post, officially appointed by a conferring institution, is bestowed on a noted poet to honor his or her body of work and to celebrate poetry as an art form.

Taylor Graham was chosen by a panel of literary experts because of the caliber of her work, her engagement with poets and writers in the community, and the critical acclaim her work has garnered.

Bringing Art To Schools in South Lake Tahoe

In keeping with its mission to bring more arts to more people, El Dorado Arts Council is thrilled to announce its new partnership with BATS, Bringing Art to Schools, an art appreciation and art history program for South Lake Tahoe students in kindergarten through fifth grade. BATS students both learn about classic works of art—their meanings, styles, and the movements that informed them—and create their own art based upon a selected theme.

County Arts Council Adds Lake Tahoe Board Member

PLACERVILLE, CA - El Dorado Arts Council (EDAC) announced today that Kim Wyatt, publisher of Bona Fide Books, was appointed to the nonprofit arts organization’s board of directors.

“We are excited to have Kim Wyatt join our board as EDAC prepares to launch exciting initiatives in 2014,” says Dan Cattone, EDAC board president. “The support and nurturing of the South Lake Tahoe art community is critical to our mission of ‘More Art in More Places.’ Kim will help us energize that effort and insure that EDAC brings relevant support and value to the South Lake Tahoe art community.”

Wine Tasting and Art Auction feature Thomas Kinkade Prints

The El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce Education Council will hold its annual Wine Tasting/Art Auction on Friday, May 4, 2012, at 6 p.m. where ten Thomas Kinkade framed prints, along with artwork from other area artists, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
David Girard Vineyard will be the site where the Wine Tasting/Art Auction will take place, and the Wine Tasting will feature fine David Girard Vineyard wines.
