LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - California has just experienced the deadliest and most destructive wildfire seasons with more than 8,500 fires burning an area of more than 1.8 million acres in 2018 alone.
Fire is no stranger to Lake Tahoe.

August 14, 2016 - 12:00pm On Sunday August 14th from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm the Tahoe Resource Conservation District will hold the 9th annual Landscape Conservation Workshop at the Evans Family Garden located at 1383 Mount Olympia Circle in South Lake Tahoe. The workshop will provide a unique opportunity to see demonstrations of Tahoe Friendly Landscape practices and to interact with local conservation professionals.

Volunteers help at the Evans Family Garden in Angora Fire burn area

The Evans Family Garden received a makeover on July 1 when members of the California Conservation Corps/Tahoe Center joined representatives of the South Tahoe Public District, Tahoe Resources Conservation District, and members of the Evans family at the site on Mt. Olympia Circle.
The groups weeded, did path rehabilitation, sheet mulching and re-planting.

Twenty-three teen and four chaperones from the Bureau of Jewish Education of Greater Phoenix volunteered Thursday at the Evans Family Garden and pitched-in with the Tahoe Resource Conservation District's (TRCD) efforts at the garden. As the five-year-anniversary of the Angora Fire just passed, it was a fitting volunteer effort from this out-of-town group.
