Author, and Sierra Nevada native, Gary Noy returns to launch his newest book which examines the vices of 19th century California such as gambling, drinking, overeating, fighting, eccentric entertainments, sex, con artists, etc. Gary is an exceptional storyteller and is guaranteed to teach all of us something we have never learned before. April 29, 2017 - 3:00pm Author and Sierra Nevada native, Gary Noy, returns to South Lake Tahoe to present an illustrated lecture on historical material from his newest book "Gold Rush Stories: 49 Tales of Seekers, Scoundrels, Loss and Luck" on Saturday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m.
His book features forty-nine unique, interesting and sometimes hard to believe, stories from the California Gold Rush.
Not only is he a great author, Gary is a phenomenal storyteller. You won't want to miss this history lesson. A book sale and signing will follow the program.

July 10, 2016 - 10:00am Author Mark McLaughlin will speak on his book, Snowbound! Legendary Winters of the Tahoe Sierra, in a free presentation at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Sunday, July 10, at 10:00 am.
Mark McLaughlin’s latest book is not about meteorology, however it is about weather. In his book, McLaughlin focuses on the top ten biggest winters in the Tahoe Sierra based on snowfall measured at Donner Pass since 1879. He will share amazing weather facts and incredible stories of men and women struggling to cope against some of the most powerful storms on Earth.

August 2, 2014 - 1:00pm Gary Noy, author of Sierra Stories: Tales of Dreamers, Schemers, Bigots and Rogues, will sign books and lecture as a Benefit for the South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center on August 2, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The author will make a presentation and sign books to help raise money for the agency.
The event will take place at the Center’s Bookworks Bookstore located at 3330 Lake Tahoe Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe.
