Coeur d’Alene man identified as pedestrian killed in South Lake Tahoe accident
Submitted by paula on Tue, 12/13/2016 - 6:55pmA Coeur d’Alene, Idaho man has been identified as the man killed while crossing Highway 50 on Saturday night in South Lake Tahoe. According to KREM-TV, 32-year-old Robert Parks was the victim.
According to the television report, Parks' family described him as an outdoorsman, had started to hike the Pacific Crest Trail earlier this year, and that he had stopped in South Lake Tahoe.
SLTPD to step up pedestrian safety enforcement
Submitted by paula on Fri, 09/02/2016 - 2:39pmThe South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) will step up their pedestrian safety enforcement operations during the month of September as part of “California Pedestrian Safety Month.”
With a rapidly increasing number of pedestrians being killed and injured on roadways in the state of California, the Senate passed a resolution to bring attention to the 813 pedestrians killed on California roadways in 2015 alone. This was nearly 25 percent of all roadways deaths in the state, up from 17 percent just ten years earlier.
South Lake Tahoe man arrested on felony drug charges
Submitted by paula on Mon, 07/06/2015 - 10:57amAn El Dorado County Sheriff (EDSO) Deputy out on patrol in South Lake Tahoe on Friday, July 3 witnessed a man jaywalking across Highway 50 near the intersection of Third and Fourth Streets.
Since the man, 57-year-old Michael Harry Horny, appeared to be under the influence, the deputy followed him into Burrito Brothers where Horny headed to the restroom and stayed for a long period of time. Concerned Horny perhaps had passed out, or was ill, the deputy knocked on the door. Horny and local law enforcement have had a lot of contact over the past several years and he was known to the deputy.

Few overnight DUI arrests on Northern Nevada highways during critical New Year's holiday stretch
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 01/01/2013 - 7:38amMore than 275 traffic enforcement stops were made by Nevada Highway Patrol troopers on Northern Nevada highways in a 10-hour period from 7 pm Monday until 5 am Tuesday morning.
Only seven motorists, or roughly three percent, stopped during that timeframe were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Many of those motorists stopped were designated drivers for passengers riding in the vehicle who were celebrating the New Year and had already consumed alcohol.
