Op/Ed: Lead Safe Tahoe Program Wraps Up
Submitted by paula on Tue, 01/06/2015 - 11:23amIn 2009 the City of South Lake Tahoe was awarded its first lead hazard control grant for $1.5 million dollars that was federally funded through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Lead Safe Tahoe program was established so that the City could assist members of our community in reducing their exposure to hazards from lead-based paint. In 2011 the City was awarded a second lead hazard control grant in the amount of $2.0 million dollars.
Lead-Based Paint and Your Home Improvement Projects

Maybe we have also heard about the dangers that can be present when working on surfaces that contain lead. As many of us now know, any home that was constructed prior to 1978 may have lead-based paint or lead containing finishes on any of the painted or varnished surfaces on the exterior and interior of the home and on outbuildings, fences and other surfaces as well.

April 25, 2014 - 4:00pm The Third Annual Lake Tahoe Home and Garden Show will take place at the Recreation Center, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd., in South Lake Tahoe, CA, this weekend. The popular event will be open 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday, April 25th,and from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Admission is free to the public.
Chili cook-off, contests, games and local businesses featured at South Lake Tahoe Harvest Festival

Costume contests, games, local business booths and a Tahoe-style chili cook-off are on tap Saturday, Oct. 27 with the South Lake Tahoe Harvest Festival.
Who makes the best chili in town? Taste, pick and vote for your favorite at the festival, a great way for locals to come together before winter begins. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe.
