Lime Scooters but not Lime Bikes return to South Lake Tahoe this summer

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After two summers in South Lake Tahoe, Lime is not bringing back their green bikes to town this May and instead are concentrating on their popular electric scooters, the fastest growing segment of the San Franciso-based company.

Conversation with the Mayor: Meet to discuss South Lake Tahoe transportation

This month's "Conversation with the Mayor" will focus on transportation in South Lake Tahoe. The public is invited to sit down with Mayor Wendy David and representatives from the League to Save Lake Tahoe and discuss their two transportation initiatives, LimeBike and Chariot.

Meet at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018.

There will also be a general discussion on transportation issues.

Each month during her term, Mayor David has met with local citizens on a variety of subjects in a casual atmosphere.

Chariot microtransit system arrives in South lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Your chariot has arrived!

The League to Save Lake Tahoe has teamed with Chariot to bring a new microtransit service to the South Shore starting on Monday, July 9. They will use the busy summer traffic-congested tourist area to test a solution for transportation issues around the lake.

Public launch party for LimeBike in South Lake Tahoe

LimeBike, the bike sharing service that was in South Lake Tahoe in 2017, is officially back for the summer, and to mark the occasion there will be a public launch party on Sunday, May 27 from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Ski Run Boulevard. Tahoe Bike Challenge June 1-14

Every year for two weeks, instead of driving, Lake Tahoe residents and visitors ride their bikes to work, school, and for fun. Schools, offices, neighbors, friends and individuals can all join in the challenge by logging all trips done on a bike, no matter the distance.

Just by participating in the Tahoe Bike Challenge people will be automatically eligible to win fabulous prizes and cool swag! Two categories to win: Most Total Trips & Most Trips (from June 1-14) and top riders will receive a limited-edition Tahoe Bike Challenge T-shirt.

LimeBike to expand to use of scooters in South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe was the first city in California to carry the dockless bicycle sharing system, LimeBike, and now the community may soon be seeing the next generation, Lime-S.

At Tuesday's City Council meeting, Sam Dreiman, Manager of Strategic Development for LimeBike, and Jesse Patterson, Deputy Director of the League to Save Lake Tahoe, made a presentation to Council on numbers from 2017 and plans for 2018.

2017 Tahoe in Depth issue covers multiple Lake Tahoe challenges and actions

For five years, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) has been publishing "Tahoe In Depth," a newspaper highlighting Lake Tahoe and how to protect, enjoy and explore the Lake Tahoe Basin. It also highlights environmental accomplishment and projects around the lake.

'Tahoe In Depth' is mailed to all homeowners in the basin and at distribution points around the lake, and is online at http://www.trpa.org/about-trpa/press-room/tahoe-in-depth/.

Blue Ribbon Award nominees announced

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce (Tahoe Chamber) is holding their annual Blue Ribbon Awards dinner on Thursday, November 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Harrah's Lake Tahoe Ballroom. This gala event honors businesses, organizations, and individuals for civic contributions, tourism experiences, customer service, and entrepreneurial achievements. Governor, senators and others to speak at 2017 Lake Tahoe Summit

California Senator Diane Feinstein is hosting the 21st annual Lake Tahoe Summit on Tuesday, August 22 at Vahalla in the Tallac Historic Site from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The theme for the day is "2017- A Pivotal Point for the Future of Lake Tahoe.”

The event will examine successful restoration projects and ways to address new challenges facing the lake. A key focus will be combating the effects of climate change in the Lake Tahoe basin.

Try out the bikes at LimeBike ride share kicks off in South Lake Tahoe

LimeBike, the newest in bike riding sharing, will kick off their South Lake Tahoe operations with a BBQ and ribbon cutting on Friday, July 14 at the Ski Run Blvd Farmer's Market from 4:00 p.m. t 5:30 p.m.

The San Mateo based business will have ten bikes prepared for people to try out along the boulevard between Outdoor Gear lab and the farmer's market. They'll have a booth set up with free food and drink, flyers and t-shirts.

New bike ride share program to start in South Lake Tahoe Saturday

South Lake Tahoe is about to be invaded by a fleet of 200 cutting-edge lime green "smart" bicycles. LimeBike out of the Bay Area unveiled their new dockless ride share on Tuesday, giving the public a sneak peak of what will officially start on the South Shore Saturday, July 15 for a pilot program.

"We are thrilled to be here," said Andrew Savage, Vice President of Strategic Development for LimeBike. "This will make mobility more fun."
