Events Center approved by Douglas County Commissioners

STATELINE, Nev. - In what has been a hotly debated topic for months between the five Douglas County Board of Commissioners and members of the public, the Tahoe South Events Center passed the final hurdle Thursday. In a 3-2 vote, the commissioners approved bond issuance, the final step in the approval process. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) had previously unanimously approved it.

Santa arrives at community tree lighting at Edgewood

The inaugural Tree Lighting Celebration at Edgewood Tahoe took place on Saturday night with a packed house welcoming in the season with jolly ole' Santa Claus.

As Santa descended the grand stairs in the Lodge at Edgewood with Mrs. Santa, members of the South Tahoe Choral Association sang Christmas songs to the gathered crowd.

"For Edgewood it's about creating memories," the resort's GM Corinna Osborne said as she flipped the switch to light the tree.

Trevor Hoffman joins elite field in Hall of Fame and at American Century Championship

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - Trevor Hoffman, the long time relief pitcher for the San Diego Padres and newly elected Hall of Famer, stopped by the South Shore Tuesday to promote the 29th American Century Championship (ACC) at Edgewood Tahoe July 10-15.

"The course is amazing," said Hoffman. "I can't believe its [the tournament] only a month away!"

Hoffman, who has more strike-outs than any other reliever in history (1,133) and a lifetime ERA of 2.87, attended a luncheon at Edgewood Tahoe with members of the media to discuss the upcoming celebrity packed tournament, baseball and golf.

The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe - "A hole in one experience"

The Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe was a vision that began 25 years ago when the late Brooks Park and now General Manager Bobby King were talking about a complete experience for golfers who could also stay after a round of golf.

Park's grandfather David bought 571 acres of pastureland at Lake Tahoe in 1896. The property included the historic Friday's Station where the family operated it as a way station and butcher's shop for those crossing the terrain from 19818-20.

Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe breaks ground on South Shore

A ground breaking ceremony at Edgewood Tahoe brought out community and political leaders, all wanting the celebrate their new project, the Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe.

Rain brought the ceremony indoors, but spirits weren't dampened as people speaking at the ceremony highlighted the major impacts the new project on the state line will make on South Shore's economic and community revitalization, as well as important environmental and recreational enhancements in the area.

Crane topples over at Edgewood Tahoe construction site

Nobody was injured when a crane being operated at the new Lodge at Edgewood Tahoe toppled over on Wednesday afternoon.

The crane, owned by Connolly Crane out of Gardnerville, NV, was getting ready to move when the operator released the brake instead of the house lock according to Kelly Connolly, the owner of Connolly Crane.
