Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows have 100% renewable energy goal in 2018
Submitted by paula on Wed, 01/31/2018 - 11:27pmTo help achieve Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows’ goal to be powered by 100 percent clean, renewable energy sources, Liberty Utilities, the electric service provider in the Lake Tahoe region of California, is actively collaborating with resort leadership to identify and develop new renewable energy generation, storage and energy efficiency projects to benefit the Olympic Valley and surrounding areas. Subject to regulatory approval, the two companies intend to achieve the resort’s 100 percent renewable goal as early as December 2018.
Customers weigh in on Liberty Utilities in survey
Submitted by paula on Fri, 01/26/2018 - 2:27pmThe cumulative results of Liberty Utilities’ quarterly Customer Satisfaction Surveys in 2017 show improvements in corporate citizenship and communications. The survey also showed overall customer satisfaction increased by six points compared to first quarter results.
The online survey is independently conducted by JD Power, and Liberty Utilities’ results are compared with comparable electric utilities in the west. Some highlights of the 2017 survey results show:

While it’s no surprise that our customers rank environmental responsibility as very important, it’s been a welcome surprise that they rank Liberty’s environmental stewardship higher each year. In 2016, 75% said we were environmentally responsible—up from 68% the year before!
Liberty Utilities has taken several steps in recent years that contribute to our customers recognizing our environmental commitment.
Liberty Utilities invites public to new 50 MW Solar Energy Center

A new solar energy project will be unveiled to the public on Wednesday, April 19 at 9:30 a.m. in the town of Luning, Nevada. Since going on line, the new 50 MW Luning Solar Energy Center has supplied 25 percent of Liberty Utilities' customers’ energy needs with clean, renewable energy.
The Luning center is located on Highway 361 at Mile Marker 25, approximately a three-hour drive from South Lake Tahoe.
“We’re very excited to share this official opening with our customers and the community of Luning,” stated Travis Johnson, Liberty Utilities’ VP of Electric Operations.
Electric rates go up January 1 for Liberty Utility customers
Submitted by paula on Mon, 12/12/2016 - 2:46pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF. - Beginning January 1, 2017, customers of Liberty Utilities will see an increase in their electric bills from just under one percent to 17 percent.
The average residential small business customer will see a small increase, while larger commercial customers will see substantial change in their bills (A1 customers less than one percent, A2 16 percent and A3, 17 percent). Rates would have been higher had savings in fuel and energy costs been figured in.
Nevada solar energy project to supply power to California
Submitted by paula on Fri, 04/15/2016 - 6:14pmEarlier this week, Liberty Utilities held an official groundbreaking ceremony for their first-ever solar facility being built in Mineral County, Nevada.
“This project continues Liberty’s commitment to renewable energy sources,” states Greg Sorensen, President of Liberty Utilities-CA. “When completed later this year, the solar project will meet 25 percent of our customers’ energy needs.”
The Luning Solar Energy Center (aka the “Luning Project”) will be a 50-megawatt project.
Liberty Utilities to develop two solar projects in Nevada

Liberty Utilities announced Friday that they filed an application with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) proposing to build two separate solar projects that would be built in Nevada and provide renewable energy to Liberty’s customers via NV Energy’s transmission lines.

“They made it!”
Yes, they did! And, they did it in record-setting style.
Four athletes, who are personal friends of Elaine and I, completed 10 very physically and mentally-demanding challenges in a period of 10 grueling days, way back in 2002.
I know because we were there for each and every one of those 10 memorable days that resulted in the very first Nevada 10-in-10 Challenge going into the Nevada record book.
Those four were Karl Horeis, Jeremy Evans, Rick Gunn and K. M. Cannon.
