4th of July Tahoe Truckee Honor Flyover circling Lake Tahoe

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - There won't be fireworks shows around Lake Tahoe but there will be the 4th of July Truckee Tahoe Honor Flyover honoring our nation's independence and frontline healthcare workers. Warbirds will take to the sky, flying over Truckee and Lake Tahoe communities.
A contingent of historic plans will leave the Truckee airport at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday the 4th and fly counterclockwise around Lake Tahoe (schedule below), coming back into Truckee by 12:15 p.m. The planes will not be on display at any airport, just a great show in the air.

STHS is taking time to observe Mental Health Awareness Month in May by sending out advice to students, including posting positive comments on social media, writing for fun, and learning a new skill. Here’s what some students plan to do:

Widespread South Shore power outage from Stateline to Meyers; Also on SR 89 and Tahoe City
Submitted by paula on Tue, 01/10/2017 - 10:23pm2:00 p.m. update - Power has been restored to a majority of customers in the Northstar, Squaw, Olympic Valley, Alpine Meadows, Glenshire, Martis Camp and Truckee areas. Liberty Utilities anticipates customers in Kings Beach, Tahoe City and Portola/Loyalton will also be restored today, Wednesday.
There are still challenges to restoring power from Emerald Bay to south of Homewood.
No word on how many South Lake Tahoe customers are still without power, or how long to get it back on.

TRPA fines Martis Camp Club for unauthorized dredging
Submitted by paula on Thu, 12/17/2015 - 1:26pmTo resolve a pending violation for unauthorized dredging, the Martis Camp Club has agreed to pay a $5,000 fine and restore the area disturbed at its Martis Camp Beach property, located at 6920 North Lake Blvd., in Placer County. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board approved the settlement agreement yesterday.
Northstar opens additional terrain and lifts
Submitted by paula on Sat, 12/27/2014 - 7:19pmRecent snowfall and cold temperatures allowed Northstar California Resort to open additional trails and lifts for skiers and riders.
Martis Camp Express, which offers access to the resort’s popular Lookout Mountain, opened today with access to Upper Martis and Washoe trails. Additionally, the Lookout Link lift opened.
Overnight temperatures as cold as 12 degrees created ideal snowmaking conditions, allowing for the additional terrain to open. Tonight’s temperatures are forecast to dip as low as five degrees, which will bring another night of excellent snowmaking weather.

More than 3,100 volunteers are needed to successfully execute the first full-distance IRONMAN® event in California since 2001 - IRONMAN Lake Tahoe, which is scheduled for September 22, 2013.
World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), owner and operator of the IRONMAN Series, will host an IRONMAN Lake Tahoe Volunteer Meeting Monday, September 17, 7 p.m., at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Boulevard, Kings Beach, California.
Of the 3,100 volunteers needed to provide behind-the-scene logistics and ground execution, 100 will serve as captains to ensure a safe and fun event.
