LTCC expands College Promise to three years free college for eligble local students

Lake Tahoe College Promise, the free tuition program at Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC), is expanding from one year to three years starting Fall 2019.

Submitted by paula on Thu, 04/11/2019 - 1:02pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The free college program at Lake Tahoe Community College, the College Promise, was just awarded a $150,000 grant to enhance and expand the program. They were just one of three community colleges in the state to receive the grant.
Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) Promise program provides a free year of tuition for first-time, full-time students. With this grant award, LTCC can further enhance the program, adding free services and extra support to improve Promise student success.

We have faced many challenges over the last several years and I truly feel that I am part of this organizations revival, so much of our efforts feel very “new.”
SOS Outreach wins $50,000 award from Gatorade
Submitted by admin on Fri, 12/02/2016 - 8:22pmA charity with operations in South Lake Tahoe is the recipient of the national $50,000 Gatorade "For the Love of Sports" campaign. Besides Lake Tahoe, SOS Outreach serves youth in Colorado and Seattle.
"Thank you to the Tahoe community for the support during the For the Love of Sports Campaign to help us win the $50,000," said Theresa Papandrea, VP of Youth Programs for Lake Tahoe.
Papandrea said the SOS Outreach efforts will serve around 700 local youth and 5,000 nationally.

South Tahoe grad starts "Pay it Forward" scholarship and mentor program

And he is accomplishing this in two ways: Pay it Forward Scholarships and with a High School Mentoring Program.
"I'm helping kids that are taking the vocational path," said the 1972 South Tahoe high graduate.
