LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - The Tahoe Prosperity Center once again is hosting the Tahoe Economic Summit, an event that delves into issues many locals are concerned with including housing, the economy, innovation, entrepreneurship and an educated workforce.
This year the summit "Transforming Tahoe," will be held on October 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
Heidi Hill Drum, the TPC executive director, says their goals each year are to bring in expert speakers on important issues and then have engaging conversations around how we can positively impact our region through breakout sessions.

Join UC Davis TERC in Incline Village for a special summer feature lecture on Thursday, August 30, with Jared Blumenfeld, former EPA Regional Administrator.
For Jared, walking from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail opened up new ways of thinking about our relationship with nature. Jared's talk will combine his amazing hiking photographs, stories of adventure and insights about the current state of environmental politics.

You might call it a silent epidemic.
Up to one in five kids living in the U.S. shows signs or symptoms of a mental health disorder in a given year.
So in a school classroom of 25 students, five of them may be struggling with the same issues many adults deal with: depression, anxiety, substance abuse.
And yet most children — nearly 80 percent — who need mental health services won't get them.

The Lake Tahoe Community College Writers’ Series welcomes novelist and short story writer Daniel Chacón on Friday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. in LTCC’s library. Chacón will read selections from his works, answer audience questions about the writing process, and sign copies of his books, which will be available for sale. This event is sponsored by LTCC’s Equity Office, and is free and open to the public.
Mental Health Awareness: Lack of housing is a huge issue

Replacing long-stay psychiatric hospitals with less isolated community mental health services became the norm, and it created a whole new set of issues.

Kate McGee joins KUNR as Northern Nevada radio broadcast journalist

She recently graduated from Fordham University in the Bronx, N.Y., with a dual bachelor's degree in American studies and history. She started her public radio career at Fordham’s WFUV Radio as a reporter, anchor and producer, where she covered everything from Mayor Mike Bloomberg to stickball tournaments.
