Douglas County forming housing task force
Submitted by paula on Sun, 10/22/2017 - 9:19pmAn Affordable Housing Task Force has been formed to assist Douglas County in its efforts to develop quality affordable housing opportunities. This has been in the works since July when they entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Nevada Rural Housing Authority “For Creating a Viable Path to Achieving Affordable Housing for Douglas County, Nevada.”
Part of the Board of County Commissioners Strategic Plan includes evaluating the potential of offering affordable housing development incentives through the update of the Housing Element of the Master Plan.

Carson City, Nevada-- The Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) staff, along with its Board of Commissioners, are mourning the death of Commission member, Tom Cook. Cook died at Carson Tahoe Hospital, while surrounded by loving family, on April 25, 2013.

January 28, 2013 (All day) The Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA) has named Nevada State Bank, “Most Valuable Partner, ” one of the NRHA’s highest awards to a bank or lending institution.
“Nevada State Bank has been instrumental in providing WISH program funding for the NRHA,” said Gary Longaker, NRHA Executive Director. “The money comes from an award by the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco and Nevada State Bank has been an important player in bringing these dollars into our region to help young rural families go from renters to first time home buyers,” he said.

Through the Home at Last™ Access program, qualified home buyers receive a generous 4 percent down payment grant, which does not have to be paid back. Now, the program is offering even lower mortgage interest rates on a conventional, 30-year fixed rate loan. Through participating lenders, the interest rates on FHA, VA or USDA-RD home mortgages have dropped from 3.75 percent to the current rate of 3.5 percent, which is an historic low.
Nicole Larrimore named Marketing Coordinator for Nevada Rural Housing Authority

August 20, 2012 (All day) Nicole Larrimore has been named as the new Mortgage and Marketing Coordinator for the Nevada Rural Housing Authority. The position was recently created to provide information about the NRHA’s housing assistance programs to mortgage lenders, banks, realtors, brokers, title and hazard insurance companies and prospective homebuyers. She will serve as the NRHA liaison to lenders and build relationships with the home buying and real estate community to better serve their needs.
