Squaw-Alpine parent company buys Intrawest Resorts
Submitted by paula on Mon, 04/10/2017 - 9:04amA newly formed entity controlled by ski resort operator Aspen Skiing Company, LLC and private equity firm KSL Capital Partners, owners of Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows, will buy Intrawest Resorts Holdings for about $1.5 billion including debt, it was announced Monday.
Intrawest Resorts Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: SNOW) is a leading North American mountain resort and adventure company.

April 30, 2016 - 4:00pm The South Lake Tahoe Outrigger Canoe Club is kicking off their 2016 season with a New Paddlers Meet and Greet on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the Aspen Room of the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center.
The club is using this introductory meeting to expand their adult and junior programs, as well as their recreational crew. No experience is necessary and everyone age 8 and over is welcome.

South Lake Tahoe paddle boarders honor Deputy Francies
Submitted by paula on Wed, 08/19/2015 - 8:44pm"Although he was off duty, Deputy Carlos Francies died doing what he was sworn to do: putting himself in harm's way to protect the life of another." Those were the words of Robin Bender as she spoke to the crowd gathered at El Dorado Beach and Lakeview Commons to remember Francies who drowned in Lake Tahoe on August 13.
Bender, the CFO of South Tahoe Stand Up Paddle, along with owner Chris Brackett, spoke, and Sammantha Bender sang as people with their paddle boards headed off shore to have a paddle-out, the surfing tradition that honors the life of a fallen comrade.
