El Dorado County Opioid Coalition launches new campaign - Your Pain is Real. So Are the Risks

The EDCOC works to prevent opioid addiction and overdose in El Dorado County through its treatment, safe prescribing, and naloxone distribution programs and has now started working with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

Community acupuncture provides similar health and wellness benefits of private acupuncture but differs from the private clinical room setting – taking place in a group environment with lower costs per treatment.
Two years later: Seeing health improvements from community action

While backers of the newly proposed legislation were disappointed that they could not find sufficient support, residents who depend on the Affordable Care Act’s medical protections and insurance options felt relief. Hope continues for a broad bipartisan approach to change this complex legislation resulting in improved coverage balanced with affordability for our citizens.

In 2008, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 36,450 people died from a drug overdose and 75% of overdoses were prescription drug related. Of the prescription drug-related deaths in 2008, the CDC reports 74% were opiate prescription drugs.
Barton Helping Beyond the Hospital Walls

In March 2012, Barton Health engaged with the community to complete a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) of South Lake Tahoe’s health needs. Part of the Affordable Care Act, all nonprofit hospitals must identify health needs for vulnerable, often under-served, populations within their community and create an action plan to address these needs.
