Lake Tahoe Humane Society disbands, turns operations over to Truckee Tahoe group
Submitted by paula on Mon, 01/14/2019 - 7:10pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Almost two years after their executive director embezzled almost $60,000 from the Lake Tahoe Humane Society (LTHS), the nonprofit tasked with helping local pets, is folding after 51 years of serving the South Lake Tahoe community.
A new board of directors had taken several steps, including the sale of their Emerald Bay Road building and laying off of employees, to get LTHS back on their feet but could never get the nonprofit's community standing back.
Tahoe's only canine physical therapist joins integrative veterinarian

Jenny Jones, physical therapist and certified canine rehabilitation therapist has partnered with Heal to provide more healing options for Lake Tahoe’s dogs and cats.

Black Tie Gala for dogs and their humans

Dawgs on the Run, a South Lake Tahoe non-profit focused on providing educational information and resources for responsible pet care, is holding their inaugural Black Tie Gala on Saturday, September 9 at 5:30 p.m. at Lakeside Beach House.
Dogs are encouraged to come in formal wear for the gala which will feature the awarding of a grant to a selected local dog nonprofit, announcement of the 'Who is The Tahoe Dog?' winner, and contests for dogs including Doggy Karaoke, Peanut Butter Lick, Best Black Tie Wear.
Formal attire for dogs only.
Dawgs on the Run Holds Inaugural “Buried Bones Rummage Sale” on July 26

The South Lake Tahoe non-profit group, Dawgs on the Run, will host their first “Buried Bones Rummage Sale” on Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rummage sale will be full of things for pets and their owners including new and used dog toys, bedding, accessories, clothing and much more. The sale will be held at the corner of Ski Run Blvd and Forest Avenue in South Lake Tahoe.

August 17, 2013 - 10:00am The 2nd Annual Dog Carnival returns to South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, August 17 from 10 am to 4 pm. The non-profit Dawgs on the Run puts on the event to promote the fun and benefits of having dogs in our lives. This full day of fun is for dogs and their humans to enjoy and includes games, contests, raffles, food, prizes and informative demonstrations. All leashed dogs are invited!
