South Lake Tahoe City Council candidates respond to #IRunWithMaud questions

In the coming weeks the pubic will have chances to hear from the candidates both via zoom, in print and possibly in person. Below are eight of the ten candidates responses to questions asked by the local #IRunWithMaud group.
Ildefonsa Balwing ~ 1955 - 2020
Submitted by paula on Tue, 07/28/2020 - 10:33amIldefonsa Balwing, age 65, passed away on July 22, 2020 in Riverside, California after a short, but hard fought, cancer diagnosis. She was born January 23, 1955 in Tanay, Rizal in the Philippines and was the tenth of eleven children in her family.
Combat Hero Bike Build to honor South Lake Tahoe veteran

Richard "Jay" Thoma of South Lake Tahoe will be presented a custom bike in Carson City on Saturday as part of the Combat Hero Bike Build giveaway.
Thoma, who has lived on the South Shore since 1989, lost his leg in an accident on an aircraft carrier in the Philippines in 1973 at the age of 18. Since then he has been walking with a prosthetic leg but never gave up the love of riding motorcycles.
South Lake Tahoe's Stephanie Zepeda inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
Submitted by paula on Fri, 05/24/2019 - 12:32pmStephanie Zepeda, a 2011 graduate of South Tahoe High School, was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Zepeda was initiated at the University of Southern California.
Zepeda is a 2015 graduate of UC San Diego and now in graduate school at USC.

"Follow Your Dreams" was the theme of the evening as hundreds of family members, faculty, friends and community members watched the LTCC Class of 2017 graduate.

Amada was born June 9, 1935, in Calape, Bohol, Philippines to Jorge and Macra Soriano. She attended and graduated from Silos Vocational School of Dressmaking in the Philippines on February 14, 1953.

Over 18 million people and groups around the globe have registered on line as a participant in their own 10:17 on 10-17 drill. The recent earthquake in the Philippines shows that it is important to know what do in case of this type of emergency.

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 08/28/2012 - 9:37amMembers of the 60 member strong Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club recently completed two kiosks for the public to use in the South Lake Tahoe area. The first one is located at Kahle Community Park and the second one is at the new Van Sickle Bi-State Park. The kiosks are now used to hold information, including maps of trails and topography as well as pictures and events. The club took on the projects as part of the worldwide volunteer work day.
