Poet Laureate Begins Literary Tour of El Dorado County: Laureate Trail Visits Six Libraries Starting June 22

June 22, 2022 - 5:30pm After a hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Laureate Trail has returned to El Dorado County. A collaboration between Arts and Culture El Dorado and the El Dorado County Library, the Laureate Trail sees El Dorado County Poet Laureate Lara Gularte visit all six libraries in El Dorado County for free poetry readings, workshops, open mics, and more. Lara will be joined on the Trail by Poets Laureate past and future, as well as special guests, including the winner of the 2023 El Dorado County Poetry Out Loud competition.
High school writing winners selected by Sierra Nevada College Winners to read alongside award-winning poets, novelists

January 11, 2013 - 7:00pm Sierra Nevada College professors and editors evaluated over 500 submissions to choose the top winners for the 2012 High School Writing Contest, a national competition that produced exceptional stories, poems and creative nonfiction from high school juniors and seniors.
“The level of talent was extraordinary, making it tough for the judges,” said June Saraceno, English Department chair at Sierra Nevada College, a four-year private college in Incline Village, Nev.
