Chili cook-off, contests, games and local businesses featured at South Lake Tahoe Harvest Festival

Costume contests, games, local business booths and a Tahoe-style chili cook-off are on tap Saturday, Oct. 27 with the South Lake Tahoe Harvest Festival.
Who makes the best chili in town? Taste, pick and vote for your favorite at the festival, a great way for locals to come together before winter begins. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe.

This meeting, which is set for Wednesday, July 11 at 6 p.m., is for the neighborhoods of Rancho Bijou & Bijou Acres. The meeting is at the Parks & Recreation Complex located at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.

Sunny skies and warm weather are in store for Lake Tahoe through the July 4 holiday and well into the weekend, according to the latest from the National Weather Service in Reno.
Here's the forecast:
Independence Day: Sunny, with a high near 80. West wind between 5 and 10 mph.
Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 46.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 78.
Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 47.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 80.
South Lake Tahoe 4th of July Parade
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 06/12/2012 - 5:02amGolden Bear Events presents the inaugural 4th of July Parade in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to noon down Highway 50.
This event is sponsored by the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, KTHO Radio 590 am and 96.1 fm and the City of South Lake Tahoe. Staging will be at Stateline Ave., then proceed down Hwy 50 to Rufus Allen Blvd.
The parade will culminate in the back of the parking lot at the Recreation Complex at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. Bring out the family to line the highway and watch or meet at the Recreation Complex for the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
