The Tahoe Chamber will hold another of their Virtual Town Hall meetings on Friday, July 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This week's guest is Dr. Todd Cutler, Lake Tahoe Unified School District's superintendent.

He will be discussing the latest updates on the operations of the South Lake Tahoe schools and what parents can expect for the fall. A decision on reopening is expected on July 31.

The Tahoe Chamber is hosting another Virtual Town Hall meeting for the South Shore community and business owners. This week El Dorado County's Public Health Officer Dr. Nancy Williams will be their guest.

The meeting is on Friday, July 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The 15th annual Tahoe Bike Challenge began June 1st for a month of biking excitement throughout Lake Tahoe. To date, participants have already logged over 39,000 miles and almost 3,800 trips. This has resulted in 1,685 pounds CO2 not released into the air through car rides.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - In response to Governor Sisolak’s announcement of the State entering Phase 2 of COVID-19 recovery, Douglas County Community Services has announced the reopening of child care programming, Lake Day Camp, at Kahle Community Center starting on Tuesday June 23, 2020.

Procedures will be implemented at the Kahle Community Center as outlined below based on Directive 21 – Roadmap to Recovery for Nevada for Phase 2.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Summer baseball leagues across the county will be different this year due to COVID-19, and the South Lake Tahoe Junior Giants program is no different.

The City of South Lake Tahoe Recreation Department has teamed up once again with the Giants Community Fund to offer a free, modified Junior Giants Baseball Program for the 2020 baseball season for youth ages 5-18.

The program features a Digital Dugout offering coaching sessions including physical activities, lessons on health and wellness, reading incentives and character development.

The Tahoe Mountain Milers Running Club (TMMRC) is inviting the public to lace up your shoes and run/walk/hike during the month of June for the 100 Miles for Tahoe Virtual Challenge, a fundraiser benefiting the Tahoe Rim Trail Association.

Each year, TMMRC contributes part of the proceeds from races like Escape from Prison Hill to the TRTA, but these race, like so many others, are canceled for the time being. Still, running isn't canceled, and neither is the need for stewardship and maintenance of the Tahoe Rim Trail.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - The 15th annual Tahoe Bike Challenge begins on June 1 for a full month of bicycling excitement throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin. In partnership with Wells Fargo and El Dorado County, the Tahoe Chamber's next Virtual Town Hall will discuss the economic impact of COVID-19 and what a bounce-back could look like. It will be held on Friday, May 29 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

This special Town Hall will feature Christopher Thornberg, a nationally respected economic and revenue forecasting expert and a Founding Partner of Beacon Economics. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Two different crimes in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday turned out to be related and the alleged suspects were arrested near Fresh Pond, California.

On May 20 at approximately 2:50 p.m., officers from South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to the 7-11 at 2620 Lake Tahoe Boulevard after receiving a call of a robbery. Upon arrival, the clerk told officers a man and a woman had walked into the store with black masks on, approached the counter where the female demanded money.

This week, the Sierra Business Council and the Douglas County Vitality manager will discuss and provide guidance on the reopening of business in both California and Nevada and answer the community's questions.

The Tahoe Chamber is holding a Virtual Town Hall on Friday, May 1, from 11:00 a.m. to noon with the Sierra Small Business Development Center and the U.S. Small Business Administration. They will help participants navigate the refunding of the CARES Act and answer business owner's questions.

MEYERS, Calif. - The board of the Tahoe Paradise Park Recreation & Park District will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, April 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via ZOOM to discuss plans for the park.

On the agenda includes discussion on how to handle to park now that it is the season it normally opens, but with COVID-19 they will decide if it should be a soft closure or hard closure, or if it should open.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - In honor of Autism Awareness Month, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is displaying magnets on their patrol cars for the month of April as well as sporting a newly wrapped vehicle with vinyl decals to increasing awareness throughout the community surrounding Autism Spectrum Disorder.

For the first time, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has wrapped a car with blue puzzle pieces as an inviting way for children and adults with autism to meet police officers in a casual setting.
