November 8, 2019 (All day) Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra Director Vern Scharbrough, will guest conduct the Reno Jazz Orchestra’s November concerts and feature the music of Stan Kenton on November 8 and 9 in Reno, NV.
Kenton was one of the legendary bandleaders like Duke Ellington and Count Basie who elevated big bands from the dance hall to the concert hall each with their own distinctive sound.

December 15, 2018 - 2:00pm The spirit of Christmas and Hanukkah come to life as the 18-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra (RJO) presents “A World of Joy” featuring holiday music from the U.S. to Brazil, Puerto Rico, Israel, Russia, Austria and back. Joining the RJO is Pat Ester’s Gospel Choir starring vocalists Pat Esters, Lori Johnson, David Wells, and Caitlin Collins. The Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra will open the show at the Reno performances.

"Jazz & Beyond" Music Festival Includes Entertainment at the Nevada Sesquicentennial Fair

August 2, 2014 - 12:00pm The "Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival," in collaboration with Carson City, is proud to present five of several bands at the Nevada Sesquicentennial Fair in Fuji Park on Saturday, August 2. "Jazz & Beyond" runs from Aug. 1 to Aug. 17 and features over 50 events, mainly in the downtown Carson City area.
The five "Jazz & Beyond" bands at the Fair on August 2 are Sons of Slide Mountain, RVGS Tantalus, Lynne Colvig Latin Jazz, the Reno Jazz Orchestra with singer Jackie Landrum, and the St. Christopher Project, featuring the music of Tom Waits.

Jazz For the Holidays Show Set for December 20th

December 20, 2013 - 7:30pm With the holiday season now in full swing, it’s only appropriate that the Reno Jazz Orchestra (RJO) brings Jazz for the Holidays to Northern Nevada for all to enjoy on December 20, 2013 at The Nightingale Hall - University of Nevada. Accompanying the accomplished musicians of the RJO are vocalists Cami Thompson and Kenn Pettiford, international Tap star Sam Weber and performers from the Sierra Nevada Ballet under the direction of Rosine Bena. The Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra, conducted by Vern Scarbrough, will open the holiday performance which starts at 7:30 pm.
