Even though smoke detectors have been required in new construction and in homes undergoing a remodel for decades, not all homes have working detectors. They are broken, have a dead battery, or missing completely.

Submitted by paula on Tue, 06/19/2018 - 9:48pmIn an effort to keep cars off the road, a key to increasing the clarity of Lake Tahoe, a new micro-transit system is heading to South Lake Tahoe.
Chariot, a shuttle company based in San Francisco, is coming to town for a three month trial run starting in just a few weeks.
"Chariot will be more responsive than traditional transportation," Jesse Patterson, Deputy Director of the League to Save Lake Tahoe, told South Tahoe Now. "We'll get Chariot here and get people on board, then see if it works."

LimeBike, the bike sharing service that was in South Lake Tahoe in 2017, is officially back for the summer, and to mark the occasion there will be a public launch party on Sunday, May 27 from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Ski Run Boulevard. Enjoy free rides trying out LimeBike's dockless bike share system. Meet at Ski Run Marina or Over the Edge Sports.
All launch party participants can enjoy discounts at Blue Angle Cafe.
Meyers traffic plan has some success after first weekend
Submitted by paula on Wed, 03/07/2018 - 9:21pmIf you drive through Meyers on a Sunday you've most likely come across gridlock traffic through the neighborhoods as vehicles trying to head west after their South Lake Tahoe weekend look for the quickest route, courtesy of smart phone apps.
El Dorado County Supervisor Sue Novasel held a Town Hall meeting on February 28, providing a forum for residents, law enforcement and staff to discuss solutions. One suggestion that came out of that meeting was put into place on Sunday, March 4 and was fairly successful.

LimeBike, the newest in bike riding sharing, will kick off their South Lake Tahoe operations with a BBQ and ribbon cutting on Friday, July 14 at the Ski Run Blvd Farmer's Market from 4:00 p.m. t 5:30 p.m.
The San Mateo based business will have ten bikes prepared for people to try out along the boulevard between Outdoor Gear lab and the farmer's market. They'll have a booth set up with free food and drink, flyers and t-shirts.
New bike ride share program to start in South Lake Tahoe Saturday

LimeBike out of the Bay Area unveiled their new dockless ride share on Tuesday, giving the public a sneak peak of what will officially start on the South Shore Saturday, July 15 for a pilot program.
"We are thrilled to be here," said Andrew Savage, Vice President of Strategic Development for LimeBike. "This will make mobility more fun."

As one watches the activity its hard to tell who the gallery is there to watch, the celebrities of the group of friends and what is about to transpire as the celebrity walks to the tee box.

South Lake Tahoe isn't immune to to the popularity of this geocaching game where you find and capture Pokémon characters at various locations in the community.
Warning though, it can be harmful to your health, or safety.
William Hill opens new sportsbook inside MontBleu Resort

MontBleu became the latest location to offer a sportsbook operated by the international company which is based in England. There are 104 other locations in Nevada including the operations at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe.

Heavy traffic leaving South Lake Tahoe

As of 11 a.m., it was a 14 minute drive from the intersection of Highway 50 and Pioneer Trail near Stateline to the "Y." It is a 70 minute trip from that same location to Meyers and 160 minutes to Placerville.
Three new message signs were unveiled in South Lake Tahoe just before the 4th of July holiday weekend.

While many of these are petty thefts, others have resulted in the theft of valuable jewelry, electronics and other belongings from residences while the owners weren't home.
Have you protected your home to the best of your ability? Many of us may think that "it can't happen to me," but when a home was burglarized around the corner from me, I changed that mode of thinking and started looking into ways to better protect mine.
