LTESMS 5th graders take look at South Tahoe High's Career & Technical Education programs

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - South Tahoe High School Career & Technical Education (CTE) students shared their knowledge and expertise with 5th graders from Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School on Thursday, showing them several options the school has in those programs.

South Tahoe High School (STHS) has ten different CTE programs, including sports medicine, auto mechanic, culinary and dental hygiene.

The visiting 5th graders got hand's one experience in all programs and were then treated to a lunch catered y the school's culinary students.

STHS Sports Medicine program announces Students of the Year

Three South Tahoe High Students have been honored as "Students of the Year" in the school's Sports Medicine program.

Isaiah Tannaci, the program's coordinator since its inception, announced the following:

Riley Turner—Sports Medicine Student of the Year
Hannah Voorhees—Expemperary Sports Medicine Student of the Year
Ally Sullivan—Student Trainer of the Year

"They were recognized for their dedication, knowledge and willingness to help other STHS athletes," said Tannaci.

New Strength and Conditioning room at South Tahoe High already big success

The South Lake Tahoe community came together early in 2016 to raise money for a new Strength and Conditioning room at South Tahoe High, and the investment is already paying huge dividends.

"This room is changing the culture of our school," said STHS Football Coach Louis Franklin. "Having a room like this allows each kid to reach their genetic potential."

Student athletes are getting stronger, injuries are down and they are able to maximize their potential on the court, the field, the pool, or whatever the venue is for their sport. Cheerleaders and dancers also utilize the facility.

Strength and Conditioning room and program to be added at South Tahoe High

The very popular Sports Medicine program at South Tahoe High School just got a new counterpart, a Strength and Conditioning program and center. While Sports Med teaches students how to help athletes after injuries occur, the strength and conditioning program will teach students how to train in a way to prevent injuries.

At Tuesday's Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board meeting, the board voted 4-1 to add the Strength & Conditioning center with accompanying classes at STHS.

LTUSD School Board: Immunizations, pay raises, improvements and Nevada student plan

The agenda for the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board of Education on Tuesday, March 8 is a full one. Board members will be addressing the new state law concerning immunizations, new lights for the soccer field at South Tahoe Middle School, a conditioning room and new flooring at South Tahoe High, student privacy, finances, a 4.5% raise for employees, and discuss a tuition agreement with Douglas County Schools. The meeting begins at the District Office at 5:00 p.m. with closed session, with the public portion beginning about 6:00 p.m.

South Tahoe High plans to add Strength and Conditioning Center

South Tahoe High may soon have a new Strength and Condition Center, and the public can make donations to have their name put on the project.

The Sports Medicine program at the school was developed to help train students to assist injured students, and the new plan at the school is being designed to prevent injuries to the student athlete.

The Result of Five Years of Planning and Building to be Unveiled Friday

There will be a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at South Tahoe High to celebrate the newly completed Sports Medicine Building on Friday, August 23 at 10 am. The public is invited to attend and tour all of the new buildings. The ceremony will include messages by Lake Tahoe Unified School District Superintendent Dr. James Tarwater , school board, community and student members. View the program.
