WordWave returns to South Lake Tahoe: Workshops, plays and Steampunk all rolled into one weekend

Word Wave, a festival for readers, writers, and lovers of story has returned to South Lake Tahoe. The three day long Word Wave will feature readings, workshops, panels, music, and plays from October 21-23, 2016 at Tallac Historic Site.
Every culture has used, and continues to use, story to entertain, educate, preserve history and tradition, and connect and WordWave will celebrate those words and the story in all its forms for the second year on the South Shore.
Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

The Tall Timber Ball; Steampunk in the Woods

Dust off your bowler hat, lace up your high-heeled boots...it's time for the second annual Tall Timber Ball! On Friday, October 21, style it steampunk and have fun under the timber beams of the Grand Hall while DJ Damien spins from the massive stone fireplace.
The Steampunk Gala is to benefit the literary festival,Tahoe WordWave. Champagne reception with the literary festival's keynote speaker, Galadrielle Allman will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a dance party "in the pines" along with appetizers, beer and wine from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Word Wave announces playwright contest for their fall festival
Submitted by paula on Mon, 04/25/2016 - 5:39pmEntries are open now for the second annual Lake Tahoe WordWave One-Act Play Competition. “WordWave, A Festival of Story at Lake Tahoe,” will return Oct. 21-23 to the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. Winners of the play competition receive a $500 cash prize and the chance to see their work directed and produced as a staged reading on the historic Boathouse Theatre stage.

Modeled after San Francisco's LitQuake, organizers of Tahoe WordWave have gathered creative and inspiring writers, musicians, and performers from around the country to share their talents over a three day experience at Tallac Historic Site. The festival will be interactive, featuring readings, workshops, plays, open mics, guided hikes, and oral storytelling.

This literary mash-up will feature oral storytelling, theater performances and free readings, panels on craft, yoga, and a novel writing camp for kids. Highlights include a one-act playwriting contest, a Maker’s Station demo with bookbinding, letterpress, drum making, and found poetry and art. Ticketed events include a steampunk ball, workshops, and even a hike.
