Douglas County community celebrates "Senior for a Day"
Submitted by paula on Sun, 05/14/2017 - 6:05pmDouglas Country TRIAD honored area seniors with a luncheon and gift baskets on April 27 at the Flight Restaurant in Minden. "Senior for a Day" is an annual celebration in the county where the honorees share their life stories.
John Caster, Deloris Carver, Donald Ward, Laurette Gilbert, Dick Hancpol and their escorts attended the luncheon with the Douglas County TRIAD. Some of the stories shared included life's travels, careers, military service and families.

June 15, 2016 - 6:00pm Author and local historian Frank Tortorich will share his newest book, "John A. “Snowshoe” Thompson Pioneer Mail Carrier of the Sierra", a gripping account of the legendary life, legacy, and accomplishments of Snowshoe Thompson.
The author's knowledge and understanding of the Sierra emigration era serves as a background for what he has been able to express in this book. Join us in an amazing evening of history.
