South Lake Tahoe library offering story time and other digital services while closed
Submitted by paula on Sat, 04/04/2020 - 5:47pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Even though the El Dorado County library in South Lake Tahoe is closed to the public to comply with social distancing requirements, many services including storytime are offered online.
Library cards that are due to expire have been extended. All books due during their closed times will be accepted after reopening with no late fees. Their drop box is closed so no books can be dropped off.
All due dates have been extended to May 29, 2020.
Santa arrives at community tree lighting at Edgewood
Submitted by paula on Sun, 11/25/2018 - 8:10pmThe inaugural Tree Lighting Celebration at Edgewood Tahoe took place on Saturday night with a packed house welcoming in the season with jolly ole' Santa Claus.
As Santa descended the grand stairs in the Lodge at Edgewood with Mrs. Santa, members of the South Tahoe Choral Association sang Christmas songs to the gathered crowd.
"For Edgewood it's about creating memories," the resort's GM Corinna Osborne said as she flipped the switch to light the tree.
Sugar Pine Children's Book Story Time at SLT Library

January 31, 2015 - 11:00am Join us for an exciting and educational story time. Come and support local non-profit, The Sugar Pine Foundation and hear the story of "The Happiest Tree in the Forest", a new children’s book about the sugar pine trees of Lake Tahoe.
With colorful and playful illustrations the book tells the story of Lambe, a lonely little sugar pine seedling who grows up to be a very happy tree. Follow Lambe as he grows from ‘a little seed in a big pinecone’ into the biggest sugar pine in all the forest. Meet all of his animal friends along the way.

December 20, 2014 - 10:30am Join for the Friends of the Library for an exciting story time, "Gertrude’s Tahoe Adventures in Time", a new children’s book about the natural history of Lake Tahoe.
With colorful and dramatic illustrations the book tells the story of Gertrude, a Tahoe girl who meets a magic maiden who takes her on a fast motion adventure through the history of Lake Tahoe. They watch glaciers march, volcanoes erupt and exotic animals graze while becoming forever friends. Children will be entertained as they learn.

The Crazy Club’s Open Mic Morning- Children's Story Time & Talent Contest

They will read a portion of their newest book, Larry’s Lucky Charm. Many of The Crazy Club members are looking forward to showing off their talent, but will stage fright get the best of Larry Lightyear?
