Viking Corner: This Week at South Tahoe High
Submitted by paula on Fri, 05/24/2019 - 6:31amThis week at South Tahoe High School, the cold weather continued while students dressed up for “Versus Week,” seniors visited Lake Tahoe Community College day, and athletes brought home gold from the state championships.
On Campus
The spirit week theme was “Versus.” Students dressed up as nerds versus athletes, tourists vs. locals, rappers vs. country musicians, and more. A spirit rally is being held Friday to support the school’s canned food drive.
Team Tahoe brings home the GOLD!!!

Here is an athlete cheering on another whose abilities are more physically challenged than his own. He recognizes the effort it takes for his friend to accomplish the task before him. Ryan Willfords, who is in the wheelchair, is a long time friend of Michael Cotter his faithful encourager.

Submitted by paula on Fri, 05/17/2019 - 6:40amAt South Tahoe High School, students faced a surprisingly cold week with snowfall. Advanced placement testing finished, spirit week is about to begin, and sports teams reached the state championships.
On Campus
Advanced placement tests ended this week with AP Language and Composition on Wednesday. Stress is relieved, as there are only finals left on June 17 and 18.
Next week is spirit week. With events, such as dodgeball, “manly volleyball” and dress up days, students get to show their school spirit as the school year wraps up.

Submitted by paula on Fri, 05/03/2019 - 6:45amThis week at South Tahoe High School, students had to put their jackets back on, as the weather cooled down. A trio of students will take turns acting as student council president, and a 13-year-old partnership on the baseball pitch comes to an end.
On Campus
Students attended Industry Day on Tuesday to learn about different careers. They heard presentations from a range of companies, including the nutrition department and rehabilitation center of Barton Memorial Hospital.

Submitted by paula on Fri, 04/26/2019 - 8:19amWith only two months until summer, South Tahoe High School is getting ready for end-of-year school spirit activities and dances. Students also took the time to prepare for tonight’s Black Light Dance and celebrate Earth Day.
On Campus
This week, students went online to select their schedule for next year.
Black Light Dance is in the student union 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. tonight. Before the dance, the Black Light Rally is being held in the school’s gym at noon.
Harrah’s Casino hosted a job fair Tuesday for students interested in summer jobs.
South Lake Tahoe teen killed in San Luis Obispo crash
Submitted by paula on Fri, 12/07/2018 - 1:49pmA South Tahoe High graduate has been identified as the victim in a single car crash on Highway 1 just after 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2018.
According to a press release from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff-Coroner, the sole occupant of the vehicle was 18-year-old Zachary Andrew Harris of South Lake Tahoe.
Sheriff's deputies and officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to a single vehicle versus tree collision at Highway 1 and Stenner Creek Road, in-between Cuesta College and San Luis Obispo.
He was declared dead at the scene.
Eleven STHS Viking swimmers headed to State
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 05/18/2017 - 7:12amThe South Tahoe Vikings Swim Team has had a successful year and eleven of the school's swimmers will head to the Nevada State swim competition on May 20 at the Carson Aquatic Swim Center.
During the 3-A Northern Regionals on May 12-13, 24 Viking swimmers qualified to compete, and both the boys and girls teams came in second overall out of eight teams in the region.
