Soroptimist of Tahoe Sierra's virtual Elegant Evening a success

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Many nonprofits have had to cancel their fundraisers due to the coronavirus, but the ladies of the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) club in South Lake Tahoe weren't going to let the virus stop them.
Their 31t annual Elegant Evening was slated to be held at Harrah's Tahoe on April 18 with a sit-down dinner, live music, and dancing, raffle, and auction. The venue closed and restrictions on meeting in groups of over 10 people were created, so what do you do with an event that brings together 500 community members?
Move it online, of course.

August 15, 2018 - 6:30pm Todd Borg, award-winning author, will discuss his much anticipated 16th book in the Owen McKenna Mystery Series, "Tahoe Skydrop". This mystery, set in Tahoe involves a brilliant young child who knows about computer encryption is kidnapped in an effort to unlock stolen software that could be worth as much as a billion dollars. Tahoe Detective Owen McKenna must grapple with both a murderous gang as well as with the child's impulsive and obstinate father who doesn't accept that his kid is transgender. June 17, 2017 - 10:00am Speaker Jim Clark will present his program, “Trains in the Westerns”, in a free presentation at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Saturday, June 17, at 10:00 am.
Jim Clark, known to many as “The Train Man”, will cover some of the 250 films he has worked on. Clark is an engineer and train coordinator who is associated with several of the biggest films with trains and their Hollywood stars. Some of those films include "The Lone Ranger", "Wild, Wild, West" and "Into the West".

WordWave returns to South Lake Tahoe: Workshops, plays and Steampunk all rolled into one weekend

Word Wave, a festival for readers, writers, and lovers of story has returned to South Lake Tahoe. The three day long Word Wave will feature readings, workshops, panels, music, and plays from October 21-23, 2016 at Tallac Historic Site.
Every culture has used, and continues to use, story to entertain, educate, preserve history and tradition, and connect and WordWave will celebrate those words and the story in all its forms for the second year on the South Shore.
Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

Local author Todd Borg has released his 14th Owen McKenna Tahoe Mystery, Tahoe Dark, and will be sharing the book in his entertaining way at the South Lake Tahoe Library on August 3 at 6:30 p.m.
His newest book, which are all set in Lake Tahoe, is an intriguing tale of a young house cleaner whose dreams of going to law school may be destroyed when she's arrested for murder. Todd will also share his writing techniques, inspirations and story lines. There will be a book sale and signing at the event.

Tahoe Blue Fire is about former pro football player Adam Simms who is suffering Traumatic Brain Injury from his days on the gridiron. When Simms becomes the prime suspect in a series of brutal murders in Tahoe, Detective Owen McKenna can’t tell if Simms is being framed or if he is a diabolical killer who is faking brain injury... He shares his writing techniques and storylines in a very entertaining way.

Bona Fide Books, Lake Tahoe's own independent publisher, is hosting Author Todd Borg for a weekend workshop, "The Hook, the Twist, and the Cliffhanger" - What Works and What Doesn't in Entertainment Fiction
Workshop hours are Friday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 16 from 10 AM to 5 PM with an hour break for lunch.
