SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There will be two new members of the South Lake Tahoe City Council after the November 3 election. In the coming weeks the pubic will have chances to hear from the candidates both via zoom, in print and possibly in person. Below are eight of the ten candidates responses to questions asked by the local #IRunWithMaud group.
Education and participation needed as South Lake Tahoe develops cannabis regulations

There was one thing all speakers during Wednesday evening's Town Hall on recreational cannabis agreed on: People need to get involved, educate themselves and share their opinions with their elected leaders at local, county and state levels.
A panel of six people spoke to the crowd of almost 100 people (and another 300 who were viewing online) during the Tahoe Regional Young Professionals (TRYP) fourth Town Hall meeting in South Lake Tahoe.

WAS FORWARDED TO THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE FOR PROSECUTION. 24-YEAR-OLD MAN ARRESTED.
LTUSD School Attendance Review Board to Look at Ways of Keeping Kids at School

For every day a student misses school it costs the Lake Tahoe Unified School District about $60 in lost revenue. With a budget centered around an average attendance of 95%, every time the figures dip below the average, it is a concern not only for the student's learning experience, but also for an already tight budget.
South Lake Tahoe updates its juvenile curfew ordinance

Because of the recent changes and the desire by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department to enforce the ordinance from 1/1/2013 forward, we would like to update the community on the recent passage of the “Day Time Curfew.”
Lake Tahoe bike group presents program to curb preventable disease in children

There is an epidemic in America of increasing childhood obesity and the ill effects attributed to a chronic sedentary lifestyle and a diet high in fat. The Center for Disease Control estimates that 2/3 of the American public are obese and that childhood diabetics, asthma and cardiovascular risk factors lead to adult morbidity, diabetes and significant psychological impact on the obese children. The organization goes on to state that this may be the first generation in the history of man, that children may not outlive the lifespan of their parents.
