Submitted by paula on Mon, 04/30/2018 - 8:11amWe can always count on either Supervisors Novasel or Ranalli starting off each VHR public meeting discussing VHR’s with the reminder that VHR’s are an allowed use for single family dwellings under TRPA’s land use Ordinances. They have attempted to make us believe the word of God (TRPA) has set this in stone, and that we should all now work together to allow these nuisance businesses to coexist in our neighborhoods.
Socioeconomic study on South Lake Tahoe vacation rentals released
Submitted by paula on Wed, 06/14/2017 - 8:06pmWhen the South Lake Tahoe City Council voted on a new Vacation Rental Ordinance in 2015 they also promised to hire a consultant to prepare a socioeconomic study on the impact vacation home rentals (VHRs) have on the community.
The results of the study were presented to the City Council and the public during a special meeting on Tuesday.
South Lake Tahoe home one of top money generators in nation with Airbnb

59 of those made over $200,000 last year for the owners and one of those is in South Lake Tahoe.
Formed in 2008 in San Francisco, the company has created a whole new type of traveler, ones who can experience a community as if they lived there, getting them out of hotels and into homes.
Vacation rentals in South Lake Tahoe still divisive topic

"Our biggest fear is that the City has changed the intent of the ordinance without the council approval," said Josh Priou, Director of Product Development at Lake Tahoe Accommodations and a member of SLTVRA, South Lake Tahoe Vacation Rental Alliance.

The inside elevator will take you and all of your buddies up into three floors of bedrooms, a pool table, hot tub, chef's dream of a kitchen and several living rooms and fire places. You leave San Diego for the ten hour ride to Tahoe.
Measure to restrict Airbnb rentals in San Francisco losing by wide margin

Proposition F, a measure to curb short-term rentals drastically, was losing by a margin of 61 percent to 39 percent, according to the early count of mail-in ballots.
Prop. F, the most contentious and most expensive issue on the Tuesday ballot, centers on whether vacation rentals divert scarce housing to lucrative illegal year-round hotels, as its backers claimed, or help middle-class people make ends meet, as Airbnb and other opponents said.
Tens of thousands headed to South Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Thu, 07/02/2015 - 4:20pmWith the three-day weekend starting for many on Friday, visitors started arriving in South Lake Tahoe early Thursday. If the amount of congestion on local roads and the crowds in the grocery stores are any indication, this is going to be a very busy holiday!
An estimated 50,000 to 55,000 people will be using South Lake Tahoe hotels, motels, campgrounds, timeshares and vacation home rentals. Another 50,000-70,000 will be enjoying the fireworks from the South Shore. This includes full time residents, part time residents and drive in day visitors.
Council passes new South Lake Tahoe Vacation Home Ordinance
Submitted by paula on Tue, 04/21/2015 - 9:00pmIn response to noise, trash and occupancy complaints, the City of South Lake Tahoe has adopted a new Vacation Home Rental Ordinance. The vote was 4-0 in favor since Councilman Tom Davis had to recuse himself since he is part owner of Tahoe Keys Resort.
Passions run high at City's vacation home rental meeting
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/24/2015 - 9:29pmAn overflowing audience of South Lake Tahoe residents, home owners, vacation home owners, real estate agents, property managers, vacation rental companies, locals and city officials were on hand Tuesday night at the Vacation Home Rental (VHR) community workshop held in City Council chambers at the airport.
City Manager Nancy Kerry ran the meeting, giving everyone a chance to speak their opinion after a short presentation.
