Nevada under new safety measures after surge of COVID-19 deaths and positivity rate
Submitted by paula on Sun, 11/22/2020 - 5:52pmGovernor Steve Sisolak announced a "at least a three-week statewide pause" to protect Nevadans from the pandemic due to a surge in positive cases and deaths. Starting Tuesday, November 24 at 12:01 a.m. there will be tighter business restrictions and a stricter mask mandate in the state of Nevada.
Many thought he would be calling for a shutdown in the state, but instead he chose the "pause" at this time. Sisolak said ten percent of all COVID-19 cases in Nevada since beginning of pandemic have been recorded in the last seven days.

South Tahoe Now reached out to the candidates and below are their answers to a set of questions. For the two four-year terms, incumbent Kelly Sheehan is running for reelection, Duane Wallace is running after being appointed to fill Jim Jones's spot on the board until this election, and they are joined by David Peterson.
Tahoe Chamber endorses three candidates for Douglas County commissioner
Submitted by paula on Wed, 05/06/2020 - 10:07pmSTATELINE, Nev. - Three candidates for the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners have been endorsed by the Tahoe Chamber Board of Directors: Larry Walsh, Nathan Tolbert, and Danny Tarkanian.
Walsh is seeking reelection for District 3, Tolbert is a candidate for the open District 5 seat, and Tarkanian is running for election against incumbent Commissioner Dave Nelson in District 1.
TRPA approves 6,000 seat Tahoe South Event Center
Submitted by paula on Wed, 03/25/2020 - 5:28pmSTATELINE, Nev. - The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) board today unanimously approved the Tahoe Douglas Visitor’s Authority Tahoe South Event Center planned for the parking lot area of Montbleu Casino Resort in Stateline. Edgewood Tahoe has donated the 13.3 acres at the corner of Lake Parkway and Highway 50 needed for the center.
South Lake Tahoe community meets new LTUSD superintendent
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/03/2020 - 9:41pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Dr. Todd Cutler is officially the new superintendent for Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD). The Board of Trustees unanimously approved his contract and he was introduced to the standing room only crowd that gathered to meet him.
He and his wife Dee Dee were at the meeting to meet the community.
"This is a dream come true," said Dr. Cutler. "I have always wanted to come home. This is such a cool place."
Tahoe Douglas Elks Lodge donates equipment for new lacrosse league in Douglas County
Submitted by paula on Sat, 04/13/2019 - 11:35pmDouglas County Recreation’s Youth Sports Program recently received $600 from the Tahoe Douglas Elks Lodge #2670. These funds will be used for the purchase of new equipment allow the opportunity to develop a youth lacrosse league that has never before been available to the children of Carson Valley.
Among the items being purchased for the donation are an additional goal, soft sticks, and balls.

My husband and I just mailed ours in on Monday and I was reminded again of how fortunate we are to live in a nation where the voters decide on such topics as daylight savings time, on new laws preventing cruelty to farm animals, allowing rent controls to stop spiraling costs that are eliminating housing options, and many other state and local topics.

He walked away with $75,000 with a strong recommendation that he join the Community Field Consortium Tarwater chose not to join in November, 2015.
Kenneth Carl Rollston 1944 - 2017

He is survived by his wife Nancy Carpenter Rollston; his sisters Joanne, Garol, Lynne, and Marci; his sons Jim and Brian and their wives Keri and Viktoria; Nancy's sons Christopher and Erik and their wives Yvonne and Andrea; and six grandchildren on whom he doted: Ryland and Kaj, Zane and Miranda, and Griffin and Maggie.

I learned about leadership while serving on many boards over the last 40 years, starting with Tahoe Parents Nursery School, graduating to school site councils and youth sports boards, then on to community boards, at the County and local level. I have observed many great leaders and learned what leadership is and is not.

with Tahoe Chamber on hand to officiate. Owner Tim Wesley invited guests
to tour his facility and learn more about the business, which operates to promote physical activity and provide nutritional education to children ages 5 to 17.
Youth Sports and Recreation also provides a tutoring center for after school care. Instructors demonstrated martial arts while children tried
the various machines available, including stationary bikes that allowed riders to play video games as they cycled.
