Vail Resorts CEO donates $3.3M to mountain communities, over $400,000 to Lake Tahoe area
Submitted by paula on Fri, 12/11/2020 - 10:21amVail Resorts’ Chief Executive Officer, Rob Katz, and his wife, Elana Amsterdam, New York Times bestselling author and founder of Elana’s Pantry, today announced more than $3.3 million in COVID-19 emergency relief and behavioral health grants.
In nine communities where Vail Resorts operates, these separate donations will support local nonprofits’ ongoing efforts to (1) provide critical need services throughout the pandemic and (2) improve access to and affordability of mental and behavioral health services.
Drug Take Back Day nets 50 pounds of prescription medication
Submitted by paula on Tue, 10/06/2015 - 7:05amThe South Tahoe Drug Free Coalition collaborated with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and the South Tahoe Police Department for the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, September 26, 2015, which saw approximately 50 pounds of unwanted prescription medication turned in to authorities. The event gave South Lake Tahoe residents an opportunity to dispose of all unwanted, unused, or expired medications for free with no questions asked. No liquids or needles were accepted and residents were asked to remove all personal information from bottles before dropping off medications.

The Coalition Coordinator will mobilize the community to prevent and reduce youth substance use by effectively representing the Coalition and building partnerships and support in the community.
