New zip line to go through treetops in South Lake Tahoe this summer
Submitted by paula on Sun, 05/14/2017 - 6:22pmThe Silver Rush, a new 4,159-foot long zip line opening this summer at Heavenly's Epic Discovery, will take users from tree-to-tree at speeds up to 40 miles per hour. Overlooking the Carson Valley, Silver Rush is comprised of five segmented zip lines; the final of which flies guests over the waters of East Peak Lake.
Once the ride is completed, guests enjoy a scenic ATV ride back to the top of the Gondola. It is a three-hour long experience.
Douglas County students participate in gang resistance training program
Submitted by admin on Wed, 07/06/2016 - 12:52pmForty soon-to-be eighth grade students from Pau-Wa-Lu and Carson Valley middle schools just wrapped up a two-week summer program with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO). The annual G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) program has lessons from Deputies Teresa Duffy and Chris Wiggins which wrapped up with a four-day adventure event at Lake Tahoe.
Heavenly opens mountain coaster ride
Submitted by paula on Sat, 06/18/2016 - 7:04pmHeavenly Mountain Resort opened their summer activities at the top of the hill Saturday, including the anticipated Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster.
For a daily fee, people will take the Gondola up the hill to the upper mountain, and have unlimited access to the mountain. For those eight-year-old and older, and over 45 pounds, the $89 Ultimate Adventure Pass Includes a Gondola Ride, Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster, Summer Tubing, Hot Shot Zip Line, Boulder Cove Ropes Course and Granite Peak Climbing Wall. There is also a $49 pass for kids under eight with age appropriate activities.

Mike Bradford knew the April Fool's Day ad campaign was a hit when people started calling him to complain about Lakeside Inn's plans to turn Rabe Meadow into Lakeside Ranch. People took their rants to social media as well.
The headline read, "Lakeside Inn and Casino returns cattle grazing to historic Lake Shore Meadow." The story that followed outlined the casino's plans to raise prime Angus beef so their restaurant, Latin Soul, could put new meaning to the term, Farm-to-Table.
Construction in full swing on Heavenly's Epic Discovery Project

This new experience is designed to appeal to a wide range of visitors. It includes zip line and tree canopy tours, an alpine coaster, a mountain bike park, multi-use trails, ropes courses, and interpretive and educational tours to teach visitors about the Lake Tahoe Region’s cultural and environmental resources.
Heavenly Gondola opens for the Memorial Day weekend
Submitted by paula on Thu, 05/21/2015 - 7:26pmHeavenly Mountain Resort has switched gears from winter to summer and they're kicking off summer in South Lake Tahoe over Memorial Day Weekend. The Heavenly Gondola will be running 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 23-25 for sightseeing, dining and hiking on the mountain.
This is just a peek into activities at the top of the mountain since they won't open for full summer operations until June 12 when they'll start seven-day-a-week Gondola rides, unveil their new four line Hot Shot Zip Line, and open two of of the ropes courses, Discovery Forest and Boulder Cove.
Heavenly's Epic Discovery Project jumps final approval hurdle

After Vail Resorts gained approval from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) on March 27, they needed the blessing of the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Board, which they received today.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Heavenly Valley Zip Lines and Ropes Courses

These activities have created 120 new jobs in the area and increase Heavenly’s development as a summer destination for families and fun-seekers. Heavenly opens for summer operations Friday, June 13, and will open a third new ropes challenge course, Boulder Cove Challenge Course, on June 27.

Summertime guests will have the opportunity to swing through the trees and fly through the air on new experiences including the Boulder Cove and Black Bear Challenge Courses, the Discovery Forest Canopy Course and the 3,300 foot-long Blue Streak zip line. On Friday, June 13, Heavenly Mountain Resort will open these expanded offerings to the public seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through September 1.
