24 community members vying for SLT commission seats

After a record number of candidates sought election to the South Lake Tahoe City Council in November, another large group of citizens are seeking assignments to four City commissions.

During their next meeting on Tuesday, January 16, the City Council will fill the open seats on those commissions: Planning, Parks & Recreation, Airport Land Use and Building/ADA Board of Appeals.

There are five positions on the Planning Commission, and Judy Brown and Craig Woodward are the only two incumbents seeking another two-year term. They are joined by Angela Swanson, Anne Marie Smith, Jenna Palacio, Ted Long, Angela Haen, David Goldman, Noel Farmer, Jessee Dwyer and Woodfin Brewer.

Parks & Recreation Commission also has five positions, with Pete Fink and Steven Noll seeking another term. The others looking to be appointed are Jerry Bindel, Jennifer Boyd, Marissa Fox, Angela Haen, Robert Jaeger, Patrick Jarrett, Kris Keesling, Lara Miller, Harold Riddle, Dave Rios, Jerry Williams and Jude Wood.

The other two commissions don't have enough candidates to fill the open positions. Scott Michal is the only person seeking a spot on the Airport Land Use Commission. There are two open positions.

On the Building/ADA Board of Appeals, electrician William "Chip" Henderson and architect Julie Stewart have filed, leaving spots open for in the areas of plumbing, heating and ventilating, and general contractor as well as two from the handicapped, ADA community.

The meeting begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers at the airport.
