South Lake Tahoe City Council appoints citizens to commission seats

It looks like the SLT Parks & Recreation Commission is about to get bigger as the City has found that its too big of a job for just five people with the number of sub-committees and other tasks needed as the creation of a new recreation city is on the horizon.

During Tuesday's South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting they appointed five commissioners, then took the first steps to expand the commission by two members. In a resolution at the next Council meeting, that will be a done deal, if approved.

Jerry Bindel, Jennifer Boyd, Steve Noll, Pete Fink and Jerry Williams were voted to the commission, with Marissa Fox and Dave Rios being chosen to fill the two new seats.

There was an abundance of qualified candidates for all commissions, making it a tough choice for the Council.

Appointed to the SLT Planning Commission were the two incumbents Judy Brown and Craig Woodward. They will be joined by former City Councilmember Angela Swanson, Jenna Palacio, and Jesse Dwyer.

The other two commissions didn't have enough candidates to fill their open positions so the Council appointed all who applied and will search for other members.

Scott Michal will now be on the Airport Land Use Commission. There is one more spot to fill.

On the Building/ADA Board of Appeals, electrician William "Chip" Henderson and architect Julie Stewart were appointed and the City will open the application period for the other five.
