Forecast: Weak system followed by above average temperatures in Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A ridge of high pressure is building off the southwest coast, one that will bring light wind and warm daytime temperatures with overnight inversions ot Lake Tahoe, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. Before it gets here though there is a small system moving through the area that brings a chance of rain and snow to Lake Tahoe at the beginning of the week.

Each day this week will see above-average temperatures. The average daytime high for this week is 40 with a low of 23.

The South Lake Tahoe forecast from the NWS:

Monday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Monday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Tuesday - A 30 percent chance of snow showers after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 21. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Wednesday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25.

Thursday - Partly sunny, with a high near 51.

Thursday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Friday - Partly sunny, with a high near 55.
