South Tahoe Vikings beat Sparks Railroaders on Senior Night

It was Senior Night in the Blue Gym at South Tahoe High School on Tuesday Night, and the seniors made it count.

Seven members of the Vikings varsity basketball team will be graduating in June, and as is tradition, parents and family members join their students on the court for a celebration. Seniors on the girl's basketball team, cheer team and dance team also took part in the festivities.

Normally held on the last home game of the year, Tuesday's game was different as it is the second to last one. On Saturday, the Varsity Dance and Cheer Teams will be at a competition in Sparks, NV and won't be at the game so the Senior Game was moved.

Senior Stone Merkley's 19 points help push the Vikings over the Railroaders. The final score was STHS 47, Sparks 34. Seniors Kirby David (7), Chase Waterman (6) Tyler Hogbin (1), Aaron Pfister, Matt Herring and Michael Lis all contributed in the win.

Junior Daniel Perez added in six points of his own and four each came from Sophomores Tommy Cefalu and Harry Moses.

The final home game for the 9-6 Vikings Boy's Basketball team will be on Saturday, February 14 at 2:30 p.m.
