Tahoe Parents Nursery School celebrates 60 years

Event Date:
March 30, 2019 - 5:30pm

Some experiences are life changing. They top our grateful list and remain in our memories and hearts forever. Participating in Tahoe Parents Nursery School (TPNS) was one of those experiences for me and for my family.

We moved here in 1973 with our two sons, ages five and three. We enrolled our son, Kirk in Al Tahoe School and heard about TPNS as a pre-school opportunity for Brian. We had no idea that this school would not only be a wonderful school for him, but would also introduce us to a community of wonderful friends who also had children in the same age range. Eureka! We felt like we had found gold.

We were quickly immersed into this cooperative school. We worked at the school each week and drove a carpool of our own child plus three. We attended night classes, learning how to better parent or at least how to survive parenting. We babysat for each other, shared meals and enjoyed the still renown TPNS adult socials.

We were part of the TPNS family. We weren’t the first by any means as TPNS was founded in 1958 with ten families. Our family was one of 42 families our first year. Now TPNS celebrates 60 years, and their alumni includes generations of pre-school students, parents and grandparents. What an amazing history and legacy.

Just as amazing, TPNS continues to thrive today and will soon have a new home at the LTCC campus. In celebration of 60 years and in anticipation of their future home, all alumni and current TPNS members are invited to attend the celebration on March 30, 2019 at Lake Tahoe Community College in the Creekside Room & Student Center, 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Tickets are available at http://www.Eventbrite.com TPNS 60+ Year Celebration for $55 per person. Ticket price includes heavy appetizers, beer & wine, a commemorative glass and priceless memories. In addition to celebrating our rich history, this is an opportunity to contribute to the playground equipment for their new and permanent home at the college.

Donations of new hardcover books are part of the mix as well to help TPNS open the "Teacher Judy Library" at the new LTCC location.

There are so many reasons that I love South Lake Tahoe and our community. We care and as the TPNS motto states, “Together we are Better!” We have accomplished so much and can accomplish anything when we have common goals, support each other and have fun while doing it. I hope to see you all on March 30th as it will be a giant TPNS family reunion.
